Title: Jackal rear axle torque?
Post by: sknapp351 on January 24, 2015, 10:12:43 AM
Hey all,

Reinstalling my rear wheel and I just realized my service manual disappeared when my computer bit the dust recently. Can anyone tell me if the axle has a specific torque? I assume if it does, it would be using the Allen bit on the outside, not the nut on the gear box side

Thanks,
sam

Manual says 140-150 Nm (105 foot lbs.)

I just try to lift the back end off the ground with the wrench. You definitely want it tight enough, I know from experience.

Pete says, "Until you fart." Seems reasonable.  ;D

If you plan on being able to remove the wheel in the event of a flat out on the road - as tight as you can loosen with what tools you'll have with you. For me, that translates to about 70 ft. lbs. since I still carry the original Guzzi "dog bone" wrench.
