That IS nice, and a reasonable asking price too. If someone had "always wanted one of those", this is their chance!

PO is Dave Despain?
I wondered about this too... Pardon my ignorance, but is Dave a Guzzi icon or something?

I recall watching his show or another sister show, that was all M/C around 2004ish. I might even still have it on VHS. The featured MfJ was MG. They had an interview at the factory with the plant Manager, that was classic! The manager was a total Italian stereotype, I loved it! Dave talked about the very motorcycle shown here for sale. He said he loved Moto Guzzi for all the reasons we do. Dave seems like the real deal, I'm going to check out his show on MAV TV.

Oh my. Red too. Good thing it is not in TX.

Cam,
A member of our Jersey group was "secretly" looking/interested in this same bike.
Hell, if I didn't already have the Coppa I would have gotten this one :drool

If I didn't need my money for Cataract Surgery I'd be all over that.

Yea, I got a PM too. But it's on their website, on the internet, so I'm guilt free. My recommendation was to BUY it!

Who is Dave Despain...
Nice looking bike. Wish I could get a fairing for my V7 Cafe

Look through the thread, you will find out who he is.

Any known "issues" with this year/model?

This sounds like a post from a man who has counted up his money and is planning to have a go at it .... !
-
Rocker should be along shortly. I have the 04 standard lemans. Only thing so far is tank vacuum and broken speedo cable.
-
at 75, doesn't medisomething cover the cataract surgery? I'm hoping it does since I just had the second eye done Tuesday, and they didn't say anything about my giving them money. ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Sweet bike. I just bought it's cousin off a fellow V11/ADV forum member... :)

Not this time Lannis. Just bought a '78 850 LeMans, and trimmed down my herd by one. A fellow Guzzi guy here in Jersey was asking me about it.

It's actually been almost three months since I bought a bike. I'm still in a sell mode.
This one is temping though. :drool
The V11 LeMans are some of my favorite Guzzi models, esp. this one and the Coppa Italia, as they've got Ohlins suspensions. I like the tri-color scheme of the Coppa Italia more than the Rosso Corsa, thought he rosso Corsa's fairing likely gives a lot better wind protection.
I hope someone buys this soon, or I might just end up being $7k poorer (Thanks, Kev & Cam :D).
-
we all agree its a beauty but who cares about Dave Despan? does he make the bike worth more ? LOL
This bike's been for sale for 3 months already.... 7 k is not a steal .
-
Three whole months? How do you sleep at night?
:P

Any known "issues" with this year/model?
I had an 03 Rosso and the only problem that I had was the speedometer and given the miles on this bike it is either due to go bad or it was replaced. I'd certainly ask. I never had a problem with the Ohlins suspension and I read somewhere that keeping the bike vertical was recommended to eliminate a leak from the left fork. Don't know if that is true but the previous owner of Chuck's Rosso had to have his forks serviced and it wasn't cheap.
Other than the speedo, I had no problems with the bike.

Doubt any one does care. It's the pristine condition, low mile somewhat rare model. Not everyone looks to "steal" a bike. If so, go look for a standard V11 Sport.
-

:P
I sleep well , ;D but every time i look at their website and i see this bike is still for sale, my bank account is in danger lol
i would have to get rid of my RK to make room for this one....I hope someone will buy it so my " thinking" will be over..
Cam , not everyone is looking for a steal , i agree with you. I just didn't like their selling "strategy" , mentioning the name of the first owner .
7k ? if i were in the market , i will pay that .
The muffler alone were something like 1 k back there.

Ha ha, oops should have quoted as I was actually responding to the fact that Jay hasn't bought a bike in 3 months lol, but I see the question equally applied to you. ;D

Word is they would do $6,500 without too much haggling. Go see Rick in sales.
Only ONE of these in a sea of Road Kings....
Someone go for it before I pimp myself out on Craigslist for some extra cash (might take a while).
-
Is the tailpiece missing, or just not on when they took the picture? That would down grade the price to me. The titanium mufflers are expensive, and sound absolutely wonderful. They are extremely fragile, however. Dorcia can dent them with her boots. The high hangers like that are not particularly comfortable for the passenger, if that matters. The standard hangers will fit. The Ohlins suspension is first rate, and the bike handles much better than you might think. Injection/ignition is well sorted from the factory.
About the only issue is the stupid ITI speedo. Most failed early on, some keep on keeping on. Rosie got a case of the ethanol fuel warts on the tank. Some do, some don't, it seems.
It's the last of the *real* Guzzis. ~; ;D
-
Whoever buys it and whoever owns one, I would suggest trying to find someone who has a set of the decals sitting in a drawer because you never know. I never got around to it when I owned mine but it was on my list of must haves for that bike.

I would bet they would take 6.5K without much haggling. I bet this bike doesn't bring 5.5k. Once sold out of York PA last summer for about 4.5k.

Interstingly enough, I sold my Road King to make room for this one. And the speedo is broken. Lol.

Didn't Dave Despain ride this one to the National at New Cumberland WV? Seems like I remember talking to him there. I think he said Moto Guzzi America gave him the bike?

Once this one sells, we'll hear from AH Fan posting "Anyone know of a pristine, low mileage Rosso...."
$4,500.00 - No way.

IIRC, the $4,500 bike in York was Warren Wren's bike. It no longer had the stock gauges, because (surprise) the speedo had failed. It also had a lot more miles on it.

Looks a whole lot nicer in the flesh, saw it when I took the 1400T in for it's 6,000 service, yes very cold ride at 11 degrees when I left the house but much warming coming home with my new heated gear, Cam don't laugh.

Told ya so!

Nor did I say this was a 4.5k bike. I'll will however bet the bike doesn't sell for more than 5.5k and it will take a while to sell at that.
Like most of the spines the guys who originally lusted after them now have the money to buy, but now can't take the riding position. Younger folks don't want them because they don't make 2.7 quadrillion HP and what's a Moto Guzzi?
Stunning bike for sure but it caught in a weird place in time. To old to be modern. To new to be collectable and too oddball for 99.99% of the motorcycling public.

That's a pretty good two-line analysis and explanation for the used market in Moto Guzzis right there!

Last time I saw that bike it was at Karl's Union Cycle in Charlotte NC

He was at New Cumberland, i enjoyed talking with him. For a moto head like me his voice was very familiar. I do not recall the way he acquired the bike. How would he rate a free bike?? who knows.

My understanding is Guzzi NA gave him a greenie to ride to (I think) the last Guzzi Days at Angiers. He liked it so much he bought it or one like it.

HaHa! I got good laugh! and probably true..

It's a beauty but the riding position is good for 2-hours max for my 64-year old body.
