I opened the new MGNOC February newsletter this morning and saw that some guy named Lannis is getting his 100,000 Moto Guzzi miles badge. Congratulations! ;-T

sooooo??? I've well over 150K logged on bikes. But only 12k of it on my V7s (in the past year). How do I get a gold star?
Imperially oriented friends might note that 150km is about 90kMiles. Leaves me in a deficit according to the rules.
Are you saying if I had converted earlier in life I'd be on the Dean's list?
Anyone have a picture of the star/club I've been excluded from simply because the Japanese are better at marketing?

Congrats Lannis. I haven't filled out the application because you have to put the models that you rode to get the mileage. The memory is fading. ;D

Thanks, all. I really didn't know that it would "make the news"; I was just sitting last fall and adding up the mileage on my recent Guzzis and it was 117K, and Frank offers these pins, so .... but among Guzzi riders, 100,000 miles isn't all that much, so no plans on bragging about it ... !
But the blue-and-silver enameled pin is a nice heavy thing, and will probably go onto a saddlebag lid or somewhere as a "conversation piece".
I hope 200,000 comes quicker! I can't count BSA miles toward it so it won't be all that fast, but each mile has a memory associated with it, and good people to meet at the end of many of the rides, and I want to "get 'em in" while I can!

Good job Lannis, I am not far behind you, heck I might have to sharpen my pencil and add it up now. But like you said, every mile I have put on has been an absolute pleasure and a good memory.
Dang it! Why did I squaller away my youth on Honda's and Kawasaki's? Oh yeah! I was a dirt poor college kid who couldn't afford a Triumph err, uh, Moto Guzzi ;D

One standard size shaker bottle lasts me about a year. I still have one unopened one!
For me, the "Ex Officio" semi-boxer grundies make the biggest difference in comfort. Wore white cotton Fruit-of-the-Loom briefs for 55 years, then discovered the Ex Officios (probably Whitehorse Gear but you can order them lots of places) and have been comfy since. They're like $36 apiece but they last for years, and can be washed out in a campground or motel sink and they're dry in the morning, so you don't need to carry many .....

Actually 4 times - 1- Right side out front-to-front, 2- Inside out front-to-front, 3- Right side out front-to-back, 4- Inside out front to back.
By that time, people will be BEGGING you to waste some water and soap, even Californians ....

1st dan -
100,000 = pink
150,000 = green
200,000 = blue
You don't get the official wide red ones with the heavy-duty load-supporting waistband clips until 250,000 miles or 260 pounds, whichever comes first .... :D

So....in all those miles, how many times did the venerable Guzzi motor (not other portions of the bike) leave you short of an intended destination or days ride?
And.....will we get to meet and appropriately award you at the National in Swanzey this year???

I'm a big believer in NOT putting up with whatever the 5'2" 110-pound Italian test rider at Guzzi "thought" was comfortable in a seat!
The Centauro had a Rich Maund seat.
The Eldorado had 3 different seats but mainly the police sprung solo seat, I don't know if that's Italian original or not.
The 1000SP has the stock seat, augmented by an AirHawk for long trips (1000+ miles), otherwise plain. The SP seat is a pretty good one.
The Cal III had a Sargent seat.
The Stelvio has a Russell Day-Long seat, best I've ever had.
No Guzzi has ever left me on the side of the road or even threatened to. Not even a flat tire. That's sort of why I don't worry about the "dealer network".
My plans are to be at the Nat'l; "meet" is good ;-T , but 100K miles isn't 'award' level among that crowd, thanks! Let's find a 500K mile guy and award him the beverage of his choice .... :BEER:

Impressive ! Now that I've sold the Norton and ride an Eldo I just might get there too . Here's to many more miles brother .
