Title: Engine Number Detective Work
Post by: smdl on February 01, 2015, 09:25:47 PM
Hi, Folks,

My '75 850-T has what I know to be a non-original engine (it was replaced by a friend when he owned it), that I am trying to find some more information on.  It's interesting, in that there are some characteristics of an early engine (old lifters, pushrods, etc.), and a later one (oil filter).  I'm wondering if this is normal, or if there is a list or guide somewhere that might help me understand the origin of this engine.  The number on the block is VC097429.

Thanks,
Shaun

I have VC097280 and it also has the oil filter and earlier style rockers/pushrods.

Thanks, Kevin.  Do you know what bike this was (or is) originally from?

Cheers,
Shaun

Much more organized than the one in my garage!

Thanks,

Thanks, guys.  Looks pretty clear that this is from a T, just not the one originally from the bike.

Cheers,
Shaun

That entire bike needs a hose clamp.   :o   :bike

Thanks, two checks.

Kevin, by the way, that engine looks great.  I like the look of the cylinders in black.
