Didn't want to let the day pass without noting that it was on this date, in 1959, that musician, and motorcyclist, Buddy Holly (along with Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper) met their fate when their chartered plane crashed near Clear Lake, Iowa. Here's Buddy on his Ariel Cyclone, on the right, with Crickets Joe B.Mauldin on this Thunderbird and Jerry Allison on his TR6A Trophy:

They were on their way to Ill Noise to play a gig but along the way they traded their guitars for harps. I remember the day myself, I was in high school
when we got the news. It was posted on the bulletin board right below the flyer advertising the concert.
