Title: Euro Side Stand - V7

I ordered a center stand for my V7 Special today from AF1.  Much to my surprise, their price on the Euro side stand has come WAY down.  Even called them to confirm.  Thought I'd pass it along.  Both are backordered.  But what the hell, it's still winter.

WOW, that did come way down. I paid triple that or something.

I'm still trying to figure out why the side stand on the American model is different.

I believe that is based on the lean angle of the bike while on the side stand, could be wrong though.

I ordered one this morning as well, and there's a 4-12 week backorder. Not long ago, they were $150 and I didn't think it was worth it.

These work better with the centerstand, as the USA version doesn't play well with the centerstand. It's not necessary, but helps detanglement if you retract the sidestand before retracting the centerstand. Basically, it's a matter of convenience, or if you have a stupid moment. If you don't have a centerstand, don't bother getting one of these.

I had these get entangled once. Only once. I've always made sure it never happened again.

The new price really changes the equation for installing a centerstand.  Honestly, the old price was off the charts for such a simple part and one that is being made in large numbers for the rest of the world.  Makes me wonder what caused this blast of common sense.  I now wonder if the V7 II will come with the euro stand rather than the US only version.

At that price, anyone buying a centerstand HAS to go for the Euro.  I was set to buy only the center, and use my US side.  Until I saw the new price.

The other thing they have a good price on is that racer seat. Cheap for what it is.

That price has gone UP. Until recently, it was around $105.00 for a long time.

I believe the USA side stand is mandated by DOT for bikes sold in the USA, and I think this requirement will also apply to the V7 II series when they eventually arrive in the USA.  One can complain about Gummint interference, but I do think the USA stand is more stable.  Perhaps, instead of complaining about the DOT requirement, we should complain that Moto Guzzi could have done a better job of designing a center stand that would be more compatible with the USA side stand.  I'm confident it can be done by the wizards of Mandello.

And I paid a ridiculous amount for my V7 centerstand (a Brevia listed part at that time), when my Classic was new .......  :-[

Moto Guzzi had a different kind of distributor for Canada back then.  ::(

I went to that AF1 site and they sure do change prices around on that site just the few months I've used it.

Is that normal for those guys?

The racer seat went up 50 bucks and the side stand went down 100 bucks.

Is that normal for those guys. do they change prices like this all the time?

They also have a crash bar for the V7 OEM for like 69 bucks....is it any good?

Don't know what's up with the price fluctuations, but lower is good.  I've had nothing but positive experiences with this company.  That OEM crash bar is one piece,  identical to the Agostini I have on mine.  Little tricky to install, but very solid.  That's a GREAT price - about half off.

Thanks for that information.

You sold me on it.

They sure do have some Harbor Freight prices on some stuff.

They show a video for installation of that crash bar.  Be aware the video shows them installing it BACKWARDS!

AF1 has also been known to make the occasional mistake on their web site. If a price seems way out of line, you might want to verify it with them.

Probably good advice in general, but FWIW, this time Cam said in his first post that he called them to confirm...
