I saw this interesting photo spread of a Moto Guzzi 1100 that was turned into a custom scrambler. Some nice features. I like the side covers he made from flat sheet metal. ;-T Looks a lot lighter than stock ... maybe the two into one exhaust system.

Great looking bike. ;-T ;-T Makes me want one or one of the new 750's with the scrambler kit.
-
That's pretty cool. ;-T
-
Paul bunyon's hare scrambler😃
-
Looks great, but not a woods bike!
-
But would probably be a hoot on some of these dirt/gravel county roads we have here in The Hills...

what's with knobbies?
It seems like it all started with "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" where she has a cafe'd old junk Honda with knobbies.
what's the deal with cafe bikes and knobbies? are we looking at the new chopper?

The bike has motocross bars, standard pegs, and knobbies. That makes it a scrambler, no?
Clipons, rearsets, and street tires would make the same bike a Café Racer...
-
The front fender is too small and too close to the tire. A little mud and it would jam, besides making a mess.
-
Function is not always a concern with popular trends.😃

And urban hipsters like Dusty won't be getting them muddy, anyway... :D

That's right the girl with the dragon tattoo doesn't ride trails either but she was still a pretty gnarly little bitch

I've had trials bike fenders clogged with mud. It can happen

Hey let's be careful here. The girl with the dragon tattoo could be someone's daughter here.
Also I'd take the girl with a tattoo over my present not so hidden Dragon Tai Tai :wife:.

True , but mostly because this whole turning long wheelbase 500 lb street bikes into psuedo dirt bikes is just silly :o

I'm afraid I'd rip the sump off my V7. I bought a XR650L to "scramble" with...

Good stuff. Most of the scrambler stuff is style. Everything but the knobbies doesn't hurt it as a street bike. I like the stone screen, good touch.

This one hurts my eyes a little (but I mean no disrespect if it's yours ;D)

i think the small block isn't too top heavy for a real scrambler.
I have never ridden a Quota so can anyone chime in regarding it's dirt worthiness?

I like that one ;-T

"dirt worthy" is a relative term. The bike is 500+ lbs and has the tallest gearing of any modern Guzzi.
Its 8-inches of front travel and 21-inch front wheel, along with its nice monoshock rear suspension make it a joy on a rough paved or gravel road.
When things get tight and technical on un-maintained or slightly-maintained roads, it's really just too big and heavy and will wear you out.
-
Good riding position on the small block above. But I'd still rather have a proper off road machine.

A real dirt bike makes it too easy. All it lets you do is go fast, jump, and go over impossible terrain.
A scrambler makes you feel like a hero at 10 mph

This is my scrambler project. Handles well on single track and grass track, still a gussied up pig.
Just put new dual sport tires, a fender brace and skidplate on it.

This one's another nice job. I'm a Husqvarna fan

So where can I find a real bash guard for my V7 Stone if I wanted to participate in some shenanigans? No, really...
-
I'm afraid you'd have to make one. For my dirtbikes I have used 1/2" high density polyethylene sheet. Cuts easily, forms with a heat gun. I made a cardboard templateused U bolts to clamp it on, and then used the heat gun to bend as needed to fit the bike. HDPE is very tough and doesn't dent as much as aluminum. You can get it in dark grey or black.
