And although the old bikes like your Honda are a lot of fun in their own way (I have several!), you don't really realize what an UPGRADE you're getting with the new bikes and their suspension, tires, and power per cc ..... !
Have fun!

For sure. The old Honda was my father in laws that my wife "took" away from him. Too many leaks. Too old. Is in great shape so happy to get a small Guzzi for my city driving. Although I have lurked the past year just really missed my Guzzi. So excited for this. First new bike since I was 16.

That's my guess but have they ever made 1000 of anything?

Congrats! I hope to get one of those some day (a V7 Racer, that is).
-
Ponti,
Auspicious number there.
You will love the V7R! Hoot!
Be patient with the break-in, first 1000 miles or so.

Awesome! Congrats!!!

That is one of the loveliest little bikes ever made. Cherish it. They really were very nice in their day and that looks like a clean, original example. Over here many people would crawl seven miles over broken glass to stick matches in your turds to lay their hands on such an 'un-buggered' example!

That Honda's a fancy old ride - don't let it go cheap. Looks awful nice.
-
Did you sell the Sport with the aluminum tank? I lusted pretty mightily over that dude!
-
Congrats on the Racer, I love mine! That's cool to get #1,000!
I also have a CB400F -- one of my favorite vintage Hondas, and certain my favorite one to ride. Hopefully, you can keep both.
Be careful that the dipstick O-ring is seated in the cap when you put it back on, as, if it isn't it won't tighten properly, and vibrate out, making a huge mess (ask me how I know). Also, if that does happen, and you lose it, the dipstick from your 400F, while a little shorter will fit, and allow you to ride your V7 while you wait for a new one to arrive on a slow boat from Italy.

Lannis -- yes, modern bikes are a huge upgrade over the hold ones in the areas you outline, but, this particular modern bike actually makes less power per CC ;)
The little 400 is rated at 37HP (crank), for 0.0925 HP/cc vs. the V7's 50 HP (crank) out of 750cc for 0.067 HP/cc. Of course, the HP/lb is higher for the V7.

I did sell it back about a year ago to a local guy that had a V50 he said back in the day. Once we moved downtown the short-ish hops were not to her liking.......never got out of 2nd gear. The 400 was my father-in-laws. My wife promptly got him to relinquish it to me after my sport was gone. Nice little bike and the proper size and weight for my scooter-like riding tendencies.
So little time and so much to do between golf, jogging, tennis, tandem biking along with this, I really need to retire as 2-days are not even close to allow enough time for any of the things we enjoy.
I want to hang on to the 400 for a bit but who knows.......I know my new ride will not get the use she deserves so not sure how to keep it in good shape. Will see over the next month or two.
Quote from the Mrs when she asked to see a picture of the new bike: "Didn't you just sell that?" ???

If you decide in the next 5 weeks, I'll come up from Venice and pick her up! Always loved that Honda. ;-T

Almost ready to begin the trip down to Tampa. Yes, you may say I am making this racer into more of a "beach cruiser". Perhaps, but needed space for the Mrs and will put the stock seat aside for the time being. I really only chose the racer model due to the price point as it was the same as the Special and only slightly more that the Stone.
I have read somewhere that I could use the 2-up seat and find a set of Cafe hangers and bring the original exhaust angle back? Guessing this makes the ride less comfy for a passenger?
Regards,
Bob

YEE HAA!

Congrats Bob. I still say you had one of the most unique and nice V11's on the planet. I was suprised you let it go.

Yup, she was something but I unfortunately work about 3/4 of a mile from home if I take the long way and the V11 was just too big for downtown day in and day out. That little Honda was perfect size and why I hope the V7 will be similar....10 pounds lighter and almost the same HP. :>

Just delivered. As others have said. Fit and finish much better than my old V11.

Nice!
Lovely looking 400 Honda. Pete's description is right on the button. Brother-in-law had one; made my old G3L Matchy feel like a tank.

That's a special! ;-T

That 400f got me to thinking.
it's amazing the number of Honda engines and bikes they build. Some for many years and some for a limited run. Most of them reliable and top performers: singles, parallel twins, V twins (transverse and longitudinal), many inline 4s, V4s, V5s, flats 4s, flat 6s, inline 6s, Inline 5s, Pushrod, OHC, DOHC, Vtec, pneumatic vales, oval piston and 8v, two stroke, four strokes.
and that's just motorcycles. It's mind boggling.
so far as I know, no triples. Yamaha and Triumph have those. No desmos.
-
congrats on the chrome tank ;-T

Had a Kawasaki 400 2-stroke triple in high school. Quick little bike.

Great looking bike, Bob. I like the look of the two-up seat far better than the stock version, with the numbers, but that is a personal preference. Find a cool set of mirrors to replace the OEM Mickey Mouse styled ones and it will be aesthetically perfect.
Cheers!

Thx. Had CRG's on my V11 Sport. Liked them and will flip them soon. The solo seat is packed away for now.
