Title: Carburetors
Post by: tazio on March 22, 2015, 06:58:16 PM
Two of my bikes like to be "tickled", although it has been a while.
One of those "forgotten pleasures" from the past, probably best left in the past I suppose..

Had the bikes to prove it.

Taz , you need one more category .

Did it for years , don't ever want to do it again  ;)

 That would be my answer , Triumphs , BSAs , /5 R60 .

After months of neglect I tickled one today and she started first kick.  Then the wife and I rode to breakfast.   ;D

I have one each 1972 Kawasaki H2, 1978 Yamaha DT100, and 1989 Mille GT.  They all have similar enrichers, but no genuine ticklers.  Maybe I should add the feature.   :)

My Aermacchi had a Dell'orto that needed tickling. And of course the Triumph.

My first bike, a 1953 Norton ES2, wouldn't start unless I tickled her first! Seems to me my R26 with a single Bing liked it too, but I may be "mis-remembering".

the 40mm dell ortos from the lemans race kit had no choke, and needed to be tickeled. seems the choke port interrupted the air flow in the smooth bores.

Tickled in the '60s. Both BSAs - a Thunderbolt and a Hornet.

Only sissy bikes with starters don't need tickling, at least that is what I thought in about 1975. Now that old fartiness has set in sissy is just fine with me.

I hated the stinky gas finger I had from the Amals' on my Ducati.
