Title: Just fired up the LM2...
Post by: Stevex on April 03, 2015, 03:47:28 PM

...after the upgrade to the rebuild.
Primarily to check out the dynamic timing, I was pleasantly surprised that after setting the points gaps and static timing, the timing light showed the dynamic to be spot on without any further adjustment.
I was also surprised at how quickly the revs now pick up with the lightened flywheel, can't wait to get her on the road, just waiting for the seat to come back from a re foam / re cover.
Also looking forward to seeing how the front suspension works after re oiling the original dampers and adding some pre load spacers; expecting some improvement in the braking department with ss discs and carbon ceramic pads.
Finally, my modified Lafranconi Competitione silencers have been dispatched for ceramic coating, now, firing up the donk with those fitted will be interesting!
Oh, and the starter solenoid re wiring mod worked a treat.

Exciting times for you. Congrats on all your efforts and I'm sure it's going to make for a great riding season. Keep us posted how she's coming along. Yes... pics also.

Seat is back and fitted, first class job.

The Competitione silencers are on their way back, for now the originals are fitted.
Took it for a run out a couple of days ago, what a nice improvement the light flywheel makes.
Everything working as advertised and oil tight.
I'll add a couple more pics and video the engine running when I get the Competitione's on.

Truly a stunner.

That particular seat profile is an incredible improvement over the over-angular original.

I haven't fainted for many years, but one look at your LM and I was very light-headed.  What a beautiful bike!

Thanks Steve!  Stole your idea and did the same.  Now all I need is some touch up paint for under the left side of the tank.

Just fitted the modified Competitione's...
At idle it sounds quite restrained, off idle I can only compare them to a pair of Conti's on an old Ducati 900SS.

Looks great, nicely done! I like the seat a lot too, and I'm a stickler when it comes to recovered or aftermarket seats. Where did you have that one done?

What was done to modify the Lafranc Comps?

Done in the UK by a company called Saddle Craft...a bit far from you :)
