Ok, I've searched this forum and in the Guzzi Service Manual...but cant find reference to this plug. Either the info isn't out there or I'm too dim to find it ::)
Can anyone tell me what this plug under the seat (by battery) is for. When I checked it had appx. 12V on it.
I'm just looking into some options for USB/SAE/Hella accessory plugs on the bike and want to be sure there isn't an accessory kit that connects to this before I buy a generic option.
Cheers, Joe

Joe, I have a 1400 Touring so yours might be to add the factory alarm system that comes standard on Touring and optional on Custom. Can you include a photo so we know exactly what you are referring to.

That may be it...there is a picture in my first post. Is it not showing up for you?

That has nothing to do with alarm

Joe, Are you the original owner? If not it may be a charging plug for an external battery charger. Can you see where it ends up?

Yes...just rolled out of the dealership a couple weeks ago :)

That may be computer hookup

There's two plugs hanging around this area. The first one normally attaches to the battery cover, which I see you have removed. It is a heated seat outlet, wire colors are Orange/Green and Blue.
The second is a diagnostics connector, normally hiding in the the tiny space behind battery and the rear fender. The cables are thinner and colors are Green/Blue and White/Blue.
If there's 12v on it only when the key is on, I suggest this one's for the heated seat.

Heated seat makes sense. I'd forgotten about that option. My experience with Cali's is limited hence the fact I hadn't offered any suggestions.

I removed my seat today and I agree with Dave, I believe its for a heated seat connection. They are somewhat heavy gauge wire which would be needed for the seat heaters. My wires looked to be Blue and Yellow/Green. If it is a seat heater connection it would have to be fused and I was going to tell you to remove the fuse for the seat heater and see if your 12 volt supply went away, but I can not find any fuse marked seat heater only heated grips. A little more research is needed or ask your dealer.

Ding Ding :) We have a winner. It's connector #33 on the Wiring Diagram. "Heated Saddle Socket". This is fused with the #6 Auxiliary fuse.

Thanks folks, it was bugging me.

At the moment, I see no reason (since I'm not going to use a heated seat) that I cant use this connector for an accessory plug since It's basically a fused 12V connection.
Unless there is already a better plug and play option out there for phone and GPS charging.

That should be plenty of current (watts) to do what you want. Glad you got it figured out.

Under the front tank cover is a GPS connection supplied by Guzzi for the TomTom GPS. An adapter plug can be made for the Garmin. It is ziptied down in that mass of wires under there.

Wait, the 2015s have a heated seat option?!
-
It's been an option from day one.

Vizir, 2018 1400s do not have a factory heated grip option. Your consolation prize is a more easily adjusted cruise control. To add heated grips you will need to pursue the aftermarket.
And welcome to WG. Please take a moment to introduce yourself in the introductions thread.

HEATED SEATS! sheesh

Hello Dave,
Finally, I'v mounted oxford touring model heated grip on my 2018 cali touring, and every thing is ok .
Just to sand down the right handle on the bike , and you can use the original wiring of the bike, and even the small switnh on the left handle, and you see the 3 levels on the dash board.

We solar heated the whole state. See my tag line.  Good to hear you were able to figure it out. My immediate thoughts....could be used to plug in accessories BUT check to see when power is present.

i used mine on the 1400 and now on the v85 to plug in the battery charger. Worked fine.
