I luvs me some front seat time. Here's the final leg approaching Metlakatla int'l airport. The runway is directly ahead. The pilot gets pissed if your handgun is in your baggage. "If we need it, what good will it do you there? Put it on yer goddam hip where it belongs!" Alrighty, then :D

Metlakatla int'l airport - offshore landing in a Beaver? What, did the Tsimshians ruin that great airfield the Coast Guard gave them?
-
Yeah, looks like a Beaver to me.. ;D

I loved the 210's. Nice ride. Only got to fly one once.

Meh. A spam can is a spam can.. ~;

They built the town too far from the future airport. Nobody uses it. Besides, there aren't many wheelcraft operating in SE Alaska. Most of them are on floats.
Yes, it's one of Olivia's finest Beavers. (did I just say that?) The cowl scoops give it away.

The Tsimshians were real eager to get it. They were going to have scheduled air service, and set up a flight school to trian the tribe's youth, and, and... Didn't happen that way, huh?
Tribal cops used to sneak out there at night when it was USCG Airbase Annette, and try their hands at high speed driving on the runway. Finally had to quit after running all their patrol vehicles off the end of the runway at high speed. Coast Guard said it was counter-productive to chase them since they didn't have enough sense to stop anyhow; all chasing them would do would be endanger the Coasties. They might get to having too much fun and not stop in time either!
