Title: NGC - amazing housetruck.
Post by: injundave on April 09, 2015, 04:20:10 PM
It appears that many of us are fascinated by innovative engineering. This housetruck, built by a young Kiwi couple, fits that description and is well worth a few minutes viewing.

Some amazing engineering and design work on that. I did want to see them fold it up and drive off though. :/

And if that showed up at a Guzzi campout?

And if that showed up at a Guzzi campout?

... everyone would want to go there when it rained.

Or you could float around the Great Lakes and canals all summer long in your own modern house party boat!

Hmmm. Bike trailers could use those fold out ideas for more interior space....

Wow, that is one amazing house truck.

Some of the stuff in that truck are really nice.  Having lived in RV's before a lot of what they did is very cool.

I liked that he used reclaimed lumber too, but, wood from power poles?  Would not have thought of using them.  Loved the clothes storage solution and the toilet/shower in the turrets.

My wife liked that he had three different ways of heating water :)  It's the only problem we have with our trailer right now.

We had thought about teardrop trailers for a while, but, they are just a bit too small for us.

They could start working on a garage...

That old Bedford he has used was a petrol engined truck. I hope he has re-powered it with a Diesel one or it will cost a fortune to move.

Meanwhile back in normal land...

Clarkson, May, and Hammond could learn a lot from those two  ;-T

has to be "a lot" !

kind of looks permanently moored, too.

I'd have liked to see it going down the road.

I don't think it would weigh that much when compared with the loading that the truck would be certified for.
However the physical size of the load may be an issue in some of the tighter roads in the country, though that is covered by regulation too.
Weight distribution can be an issue with such home builds though this one doesn't look too out of whack.
I'm assuming that he didn't use real rock for his decorations (why would you?) which incidentally is my only gripe with the look of the thing. But even if he had it would still I believe be within weight limits though needlessly heavy.
