Well, that would be Yerba Buena. In fact the parking lot exits on it.

Getting close, but no cigar.. ;D

Deer Creek ???

People go off of these roads and often not found for years. Lots of stuff hides in the canyons of Malibu.

Ta Da!! Valerie, hand that man a cigar! Come on down and accept your prize of.. uh.. A MOTO GUZZI STRADA!! ;D A fine low mileage very rare example of the breed! It even runs! Uh, well it ran when parked. ~;
A fine day in the SoCal mountains. Unfortunately, Dorcia needed her Grandma gland massaged, and we had to come out during Spring Break. Good idea for seeing the kids, bad idea if you want to ride your scooter in the mountains. It took 1 1/2 hours of lane splitting to bet back to the beach from Neptune's net. :o Maybe 30 miles. :o ::)
Life is good, though.. what fun.. ;-T

Is that curb-like strip supposed to help keep vehicles from going over the edge?
-
I found myself getting nervous just LOOKING at the photo. I was reminded of last week's ride to Mount Laguna, about 70 miles NE of San Diego. While the drop-offs were as spectacular, at least there was a guardrail. Yikes!

Nope , it's there so one can get some altitude before crashing in spectacular fashion ;D
Dusty
Yes, I'm dating myself, but the classic Super Hunky Flying W getoff is one of the most spectacular. ;D You can picture it..
-
That ridge is there to wake you up if you go off the road so you will have time to say OH SH1T!
If that is Indiana, I want to see the covered bridge.

;D Don't remember doing the flying M. Maybe there's a reason for that..
-
A friend once did the flying inverted t :D
Dusty
It's obvious we've ridden in the woods a little.. ;D

Yep , 'twas me that broke his fall ;D
Dusty

I didn't have to have any woods around when my H2 and I did a front flip. That's not easy, either! I know because we made it only about 1/2 way around.
-
Those are to keep water channeled during heavy rain to protect the tender slope from erosion and undermining the highway. Poor mans curb
-

Nope, just wakes 'em up so they can see the crash.......

If there's enough room for that little bump it isn't bad. Now, when the little white line is the only thing between road and drop, then you can tighten up a bit. When the road signs are on L shaped posts that stick into the side of the hill below the road. Colorado has quite a few like that. The "best" are the ones where the white line is gone cause part of the road has dropped into the canyon :)

Watch out where you put that right foot!!! :o

;D I kept it on the brake. It's more down hill there than it looks in the picture. That's part of the fun of the Santa Monica Mountains. They are right on the coast, and there are serious elevation changes and twisties.
-
If you ride over that ridge, it's all down hill.
Fast.

True, of course. This is one of those roads where a little discretion is advised. ;D Tomorrow, I'm headed up Angles Crest with GuzziBob and maybe STmike, a much faster road..but.. there *are* places that you wouldn't want to just throw it away, either. ;D
Man, I love mountain roads..
-
The east side of Chinook Pass used to be like that. I think it has a guard rail now.
