bought an old Eldorado ( pics coming one day ) and I guess by the junkyard bike look of the thing that the chrome has peeled into the interior, and tainted the works...now I see new non chrome heads and pistons 83.5mm on ebay. can a man buy these and just slapped them on, and Bob's your Uncle.

It's the jugs that are chrome plated.
-
If the seller is "guzzi-renew" then, yes, they install just like the originals, no modifications to anything.
-
Rodger that...yes its the jugs that are chrome, not the jug handles..hehe..
nice to see your links Antietam..wouldnt have a spare 73 tank lying around would ya. MATE...

Your bike came without a tank?
Rusty is ok

The early big twins don't have oil filters and the sludge trap in the crank can get very plugged. If you are replacing the cylinders, pistons and heads I would removed the engine and strip out the crank to access the sludge trap. Not as difficult as it sounds, lots of help here on this site.
Cheers

yup, rusty is ok, it matches the rest of the bike, and its ME, which you might see over on the ' wanted tank ' page..but a gleeming new looking job is the goal right?
yup Canuck the more I get into this WildGuzzi thing, I can see I may have to do a complete rebuild. What the hell, got nothing else to do in my bunker, accept watch the grass grow...but I have this feeling, similar to like learning to swim, where one is thrown off the deep end...hahaha

I challenge you to run your hands over the Eldorado tank without thinking of a woman's body
I have mine down to the bare metal ;D

Thats a stiff challenge Kiwi Roy, especially when you see my ' Cuddlebum '..
If my tank was shaped like her oh so slim Laotian waist, and curvaeous lower extremedies, I would sleep with my bike..
