Title: oil pressure lite staying on
Post by: oranges3 on April 21, 2015, 06:40:25 PM
Without making me feel like a moron...
Can somebody tell me why the hell my oil pressure lite is staying on after I changed out my OEM oil sump for a G and G external filter sump?
Oil level is good and the lite goes out with a smidge of throttle.. comes back on at idle.

Only ran itfor maybe 30 seconds...
Bike is a 2003 EVT.

Fire away...

Massive Oil Leak perhaps.

Seriously, did you change anything about the light like pressure switch?
Something different about the oil pressure relief valve?

Did not swap out the pressure relief valve from the OEM sump...
I AM a moron,

Hopefully no damage...
Did not run bike above idle.

Stay tuned...

It'll be OK....low rpm and no load won't have hurt it in that short time, and some oil was being circulated.  ;-T

Much better to own up to being a moron.. not like I"VE ever done anything like that  ;D than to forge ahead blindly..  ;)
Naa, didn't hurt it.

*Hopefully* didn't hurt it! If you'd let the oil get hot it would be a different story but if it was only started briefly there will hopefully of been sufficient delivery at sufficient pressure to save the big ends.

Drop the sump and swap the OPRV into the new sump. Re-fill with oil. Make pathetic squeaking noise while hitting starter button and pray!  ;D
