A word of caution, I've included a pic of the damaged horse to show how sturdy these critters are, a vet was called immediately and the horse is doing well no major damage done
Customer : A horse ran into my tail cone
Me : I don't believe you , what really happened.
Well as it turns out it did happen, something spooked the horse well after he landed, and as he was standing up a drum of fuel next to the chopper he felt something brush past him . The horse hit the middle of the tail cone on the left side then went down the tail one to the rear end taking out the empennage and tail rotor. So , yesterday I had a lovely drive into the countryside to do the recovery

Gawwdd...I've owned a half dozen horses and love them dearly, but I would have put that one down.

Maybe it'll keep that R22 from doing further damage.. ~;

Amazing pictures. Glad the horse survived, at least for the pictures. When I was in elementary school, a classmate had a scar across his entire face and one eyed. He walked into the tip of a propeller. He's one lucky or unlucky guy depending on how you look at it. Same for the horse.

The horse is fine, it looks a lot worse than it actually was. No major veins or arteries where damaged, it did separate some muscle so there are some internal stitches too . The pics were taken on the day, and we saw the horse 6 days later and appears to be healing nicely. Straight after the incident the pilot , also a stockman, caught the horse and led it back to the yards where it was treated. It apparently was quite calm and knew it was being helped.
It wasn't the chopper that spooked it , some other horses were bullying it and the escape route it used was where the chopper had landed.
