Title: 20 year old bike prices vs few year old bike prices
Post by: canuguzzi on May 02, 2015, 02:41:55 PM
Seems like around here bikes of the 80s and 90s sell for as much as those made just a few years ago.

Well, maybe not exactly but really close. STs, FJRs and many others just a few years old are to the where it isn't really a big decision to buy one. Then you look around at previous era bikes and the difference is often not enough to think about.

I go through bikes quite often and whenever I get an older bike, it ends up selling a year or two later for more than I paid for it. If they within 5 years of current, I don't even look anymore, they are still going down. I know, the first few years is the big depreciation period but it makes one sit back a bit and watch those 16-18k priced bikes becomes fire sales a year later.

There are a lot of 20+ year old motorcycles with a lot of life left. I don't even look at new motorcycles.
