Title: California 1400 Tour shock length and info
Post by: Abbienormal on May 05, 2015, 01:26:59 PM
I ordered some Wilber's standard length shocks for my Tour and when they arrived they were 5/8" (16mm) longer than my stock shocks. I only have 8mm of adjustment left on the springs so even if I soften them I won't gain enough. I have static and loaded dimensions at home but currently I am at work. I have a 28" inseam and the extra height is noticeable and a bit of a bother when holding the bike up for the lady friend to get on.
I was wondering if anybody had the fully extended length of a Custom shock. Either off the bike or fully extended, like rear tire off the ground, on the bike? I want to see if they designed the shock around a Custom or just screwed up.

Jumping over to that forum I see where somebody has a pair of custom shocks they were selling and while the photo looks like 14" they are saying 13-7/8". This is about the differenc. I'd wager Wilber's designed their shocks on a Custom and never noted  the Tour has a shorter shock.
