Title: American Moto Guzzi
Post by: rbond on May 06, 2015, 10:09:06 AM
I am sure most of you know, that the first Moto Guzzi twin was actually an American Indian 841. Google for a picture. Only missed it by 20 something years.......

What are you going on about?

Guzzi was producing twins from at least 1933, though not the longitudinal crank format.

Are you trying to say that Indian beat Guzzi to market with a longitudinal crank twin?  Well sure they did.  But so did some others.

A longitudinal-crank V2 with shaft drive has long been one of the obvious configurations for compact power...

I think the French guy wins although it would be nice to know more about him.  The magazine where that picture comes from says there isn't much about it in the Library.

Hey, that guy looks familiar. Separated at birth from Boardwalk Empire's Mr. Harrow?

There are several of those 841s on display at Wheels Through Time. He has several other longitudinal vee twins earlier than the Indian.
