I bought a copy of VDSTS from a former forum member several years ago. Today, the 1200 Sport decided to go to high idle speed, so when I got back from lunch I decided to balance the TBs and (of course) reset the TPS. I used directions from John Z on GuzziTech, which provides simple to follow directions.
But it seemed to take several tries to do the initial TPS reset (per John's directions) and do the final reset after performing the high speed balance. The first couple of times, I continued to get a reading of 5.2 vs 4.6 or thereabouts, so I'd perform the TPS reset again.
I suppose if I used the VDSTS package weekly, I'd understand it better. But coming back to it after a year or so, it didn't seem intuitive.
I know ..... the answer is GuzziDiag, but I already own this package and have it installed on a garage computer, so I guess I'll live with it.
I've always thought that Guzzi could have included the TPS reset routine in their ECU firmware, vs requiring use of an external software package.

After sinking lots of $$$ in VDSTS, I still prefer the free GuzziDiag. I always found it painful to use.

I always found it slow but effective and blamed it on the windows XP partition of my Mac.

I've always found the VDSTS to be clunky as well Bob.
If you want to try Guzzidiag, I think you might be able to load it on the same laptop.
I can lend you my cables to give it a try.

I recall GuzziTech had a good thread on VDST, and they sell it, or used to. You can try asking over there.
I've got one, liked it, but yes. It was not user friendly.

Biz, really appreciate the offer and may take you up on it in the future. Hopefully, I got everything reset to where it needs to be using VDSTS. Once set, as long as things feel good, I leave the bike alone. BTW - how's that lovely red and white 12S running?

It's running great! Too much traveling for work at the moment along with too much stuff around the house to do. The weather should be nice enough for a ride up Mt Lemmon for breakfast at the iron door, I'll have to work on that.
