Title: 2001 California EV11 Top Case Options
Post by: mradtke on May 14, 2015, 12:49:05 AM
Hi all, I went through a search and did not really find any info about mounting a top case onto my model of California. Does anyone know of a good brand/mounting option for using the factory luggage rack? Thanks in advance!!

The factory rack is the base for any case you use, but Hepco-Becker or Givi, or any other for that matter needs a base that will attach to your rack to provide the mounting and latch system. Both of the afore mentioned brands are widely used on our Guzzi's. There used to be specific mounts for the EV rack, but I do not know if they are still available new or not. H-B has gone to a more universal design, although it looks nice after it is installed. That is their "Aulrack".

This is what was originally fitted for the EV from H-B:

Give makes the Monokey and Monolock systems. The Monokey is more durable, but much more expensive, and you'll have to buy a mounting plate. The Monolock comes with the plate. All are available in various sizes. I have a Monokey on my Guzzi and a Monolock on one of our scooters. I'm not really sure it's worth spending 2-3x more on the Monokey.

Hepco Beckers are nice, but harder to find, I think.

Shad makes good quality cases as well, and they also come with mounting plates.

Just got this one two years ago. Works great with my HB topcase.

Givi has a universal mounting plate for about $40 that will go right on. then you can get a E 360 40 liter case for about $230 on line.

Thanks for all of the replies, I had gone to the Givi website and they didn't show my bike in their menu. I already have a V46 Monokey top case I use on my Burgman. Looks like I will purchase the universal mounting plate and mount it onto the stock luggage rack. I will update you all when I get it  :)!

Well I got the universal E251 adapter plate and it bolted on nicely, now I can easily move the V46 from the scoot to the Guzzi with ease!!

That's a nice looking rig

Comfy looking seat

I have a similar top box except mine has a rack on top, it's all I need for a camping trip.

Would you mind telling me what the screen is / how it performs I need to get a replacement?

Thanks for the compliments, she is a beauty in real life too!! I actually do not know who makes this shield as I just bought this bike. I am going to take some up close pictures of it and post them here so these knowledgeable folks can hopefully tell us what it is!
