Title: Please define stinky-hot. NGC
Post by: Yukonica on May 14, 2015, 05:41:28 PM
I love when the ice is out the roads are clear and I can ride my bike. But I am not cut from summer's light cloth.
Spent an hour landscaping and another hour working on a new trail. I'm done. Too boot; I was on a quad most of the time.
My shirt is soaked, my face is flushed, my dog is belly down on the coldest floor he can find.  70F.

It's when you fail the stink test and it's hot?
   :D

Also -- lights the past four nights and more due tonight.  I got pics two nights ago through clouds.  Too cloudy on the other nights.  Hoping for better tonight.

When we took a trip through Alaska, it was in the low 80s. That should qualify..

Last week there were still small snow banks in the  coniferous woods on my property....

:PICS!:

I'd given up looking skyward at this time of year. Maybe I'll set up a time-lapse and see what the hours between when I go to sleep in the light and when I wake as the sky lightens. One thing for certain... the lens won't frost over.

It's an early morning shot -- about 2:AM -- dawn breaking blue and lights through the clouds.  view: NW

Note that the lights are on the SOUTH side of the pic -- it was empty to the north.

looks a bit like Orion's belt @ top, centre left...

I'll try to lock on to Polaris. With just the night sky showing (no territorial clues).
I'll run a battery dead and a card to full.
Maybe I'll catch a fish or maybe I'll just enjoy the fishing.
Wish I didn't have to work in the morning.

No, that's the handle of the big dipper.  Polaris is up and right out-of-frame

okay, thanks, have the bearings now.
Just seems so wrong to be looking for lights at this point in the calendar.
I'm winding up toward solstice.

We've got about an hour of total night now.  The sun goes down but you can read a book until ~midnight and start again about 1-ish.  So the auroras will have to be intense to be photographed between now and July.

Stinky hot
Typical summer day in Florida  90% humidity 90 degrees 110 degree heat index. 70 degrees would be very welcome about now. ;-T

"Stinky Hot"?

Too hot to care. Usually a fatigue component in there as well.

mateo - My sister up Minnesota has begun to use that "...hot mess" phrase. I don't know its origin but can say it's a bit unsettling to have one's sister use the phrase even if it is (by her context) in relation to one's emotional discombobulation. As in: "She's just a hot mess" Nope, don't like it one bit.

Todd.

In the city on the Norge at a long stoplight in 104 degree heat. Both rider and bike stink then.

Stinky hot --  kinda trashy but kinda sexy, too.
