For those who had any doubt left: I am indeed an idiot. Of course i found the key- in the fuel tank fill lock.

If you have the key code, a new key could be cut. Otherwise you will need to drill out the lock, unless there is a way of getting to the cable without doing a lot of damage. You should be able to reuse the original cable in the future to remove the seat. :BEER:

can you not just reach up where the pin goes in the spring and release the spring with your finger??? this would work on my v65, not sure if the v50 has a different mechanism.

V50 is the same. I pushed the lock wire up and over to the side so it would not engage. Every now and then it would pop back into place and I'd have to reset it.
