I'm contemplating taking the plunge and buying a ceramic cooker/smoker. Has anyone had any experience with the Kamado brand? They are
available at Home Depot and Costco and the prices are lower that the Big Green Egg brand.
thanks

I've had a bge for ohhhhh, 15 years. The only difference I can see in the two is the lifetime warranty on part with bge. The things are great! You'll not need another grill ever!

If you don't like it, I know Costco has a great return policy

Back in the day, the neighbor used to run out and pick up fresh road killed possum. I've eaten a lot of stuff, but that's one delicacy I haven't had.. ;D

Yes on the ceramic grill/smoker. We have a medium BGE, they are great. You'll never need or want another grill.

I was trying to figure out if somebody's leg is being pulled, or if there's some gourmet dining I've been missing out on. I've been told possum is a greasy meat.
So a google search told me:

For a lot less money(less than $300.00 delivered)you can get a pit barrel bbq smoker http://pitbarrelcooker.com/
that holds more meat as you hang it lengthwise. I've had both a ceramic and a pit barrel, both do a great job, the pit barrel to me just makes more sense as you can easily take it with you, it won't crack or break if it gets tipped over.
Either way it's a great way to cook! :food ENJOY!!

Weber Smokey Mountain here. Can't say enough good things about it and it's efficiency. Set it and leave it.

If you're not there, just leave the cooked racoon in the rain barrel.

That's a nice rig for 300 clams, but not really apples to apples
