Delete Daytona Bike Week, add Barber in October.

For me, and only me, I would ditch Daytona, and throw in the Springfield Mile and that antique thing at Barber.
Does sound like fun.
When are we leaving?

I'm not deleting, I'm adding!
Why delete Daytona? It's bookended with Supercross and AMA Road Racing with weekdays full of moto events.

Daytona
Sturgis
Laconia
Laughlin

Are you channeling a certain member in VA :D Really , at least Sturgis is in a great place to ride and sight see .
Dusty
Incredibly and unbelievably enough, more than one person believes that the giant hundred-thousand-people fashion and lifestyle gatherings are the antithesis of fun places to go on a motorcycle ...
I'd rather be knackered with a rusty crosscut saw than be within 50 miles of a freak show like Sturgis ..... just as I'm sure that some people would fall asleep watching the IOM TT ....
But so far, I'm 80% on the subject list, which is pretty good, I think.

Springfield mile, hell yes! I have seen all the Daytona bike week leathered up posers I want to see. Fun for awhile but no more!

Most of my motorcycle trips are taken to the least populated States in the Country. Since I prefer to use the motorcycle to get away from it all, riding towards an event that numbers in the hundreds of thousands just doesn't register. I live in a place with hundreds of thousands of people. Most of my thoughts include ideas on how to get away from them as often as possible. There's nothing I'd like more than to find a way to subsist in a town of 1,000 or less, with the closet town of 100,000 being a few hundred miles away!

I've ridden through the South Dakota area a few times without the 'events'. Great riding.
Daytona Freak Bike Week is on that same list to avoid.
I guess it depends on if you are wanting a destination, or a ride. I like to ride.

Been to Daytona Bike Week 2X(`99, `01) just 2 see what it is all about. 1st time I couldn't drink a beer on the beach w/o being ticketed (did anyway & wondered why everybody was looking @ me) and 1st time I ever saw plastic beer bottles. ??? I saw & have no need to go back again. Like others say, when I go for a ride it's more the getting there than the destination that's enjoyable, in a masochistic way. :) Been to Sturgis but not when it's a MC freak show. I get my enjoyment @ Guzzi campouts/rallies mingling with my own kind or to the bike races @ Laguna Seca. Have been to the old Barber Museum but need to see the new museum and maybe a race there too some time in the future.

Daytona
Sturgis
Laconia
Laughlin

Laughlin is only 51 miles away so I go to that for a short time and it's not near as bad as Daytona. ;D
Looks like La Grasta needs to go to all these places hisself and then decide if it was a good time or not. Maybe he isn't looking for the same things some of us do. :-\

Guess I misunderstood , thought this was a list of what to do , instead it is a list of what NOT to do .
Here's one:
WildGuzzi Western Adventure. Held on odd numbered years somewhere between here and there. This year, it will be Cripple Creek Colorado.

The perfect moto event:

Unfortunately the VA has told me to be at the hospital at 6AM on June 22 for some minor surgery , and having stalled them off twice now ... Damn , what a beautiful place ;-T
Dusty
What?? You told the VA "No" TWICE? :D
Be that as it may, I hope it's minor and stays minor.

Switchback roads are not my idea of a good ride. ;) I like 45-75 mph corners up & down hills/mtn.s like all over norCal. ;-T

GMG 2022 for the 100th Anniversary of Moto Guzzi.
That is at the top of my list, just above the IOMTT and any MotoGP race but preferably one in Europe where Rossi wins the race!
I'd love to be able to ride to every MGNOC national rally for the next 25 years.
I'd love to ride in 49 states, every province in Canada and I'd love to ride Baja Mexico.
I'd love to take a motorcycle tour through Europe.

Here's a shot from one of MY favorite moto events, the FIM world round trials. But the "big guys" only come across the pond every few years. This was taken @ Seaquatchie, Tn.

This is Adam Raga, you know you can ride when Gas Gas names a bike after you ;D

Vintage Flatrackin' @ Davenport can be pretty fun too, smaller crowd, real downhome Americana kind of event, Labor Day Weekend, THEN down south to the Springfield Mile ;-T

I guess you are 1 of the American riders from those parts of the US that have few decent curvy roads to enjoy riding on a MC..............and over there(Europe) are not ready for riding on multiple curvy roads. I suggest you save time & $ and make it to norCal and get better curvy roads than you can in Europe. ;) If you want switchbacks, there are a few of those available too. No need for a passport. Go to Pashnit to see what awaits you for your pleasure. Having ridden most the best MC roads, I can recommend my favorites. I used to live north of Sacramento, Ca. for over 20 years. From there north it's Motorcycle Mecca in all directions !! ;-T

He's not necessarily on the wrong side of the country, he just needs to head South a ways. For great motorcycle roads, it's hard to beat the mountains and hill country in NC, VA, TN, WV and GA. There's even some sections of Interstate highways there that can be a bit entertaining!
Now please dont take that as an insult to CA roads. I've never been there though I hope to give some of those roads a try some day.

Riding the curves on I-5 around Mt. Shasta is fun too and it's right in the middle of primo bike roads either way. ;D Or if you want to cool down, just riding up/down the West coast on Hwy 1, 101 is fun too including Oregon. In fact there are sooo many options to enjoy it's mind boggling compared to other parts of the US. And it's all FREE. You just have to get there.

Well... there were good reasons for postponing , the last one , currently in effect , I am the only one at home and the livestock had to be tended . The first was the original date conflicted with Cedar Vale , man's gotta keep his priorities straight ;D
Dusty
Yep! I always have good reasons for saying "No" or "I don't like that one" too. ;-T And livestock WILL tie you down ....

That's US-64, which connects The Ozarks with The Rockies. It wasn't intended to represent my favorite roads to ride. Just intended to contrast with I-95 and I-10 which carry the bulk of attendees to Daytona.
I mainly just posted it to note the lack of traffic. Just like I posted the pic of Shuree Ponds area of Valle Vidal New Mexico as my idea of the crowds I like to see at my personal moto events.

Damn, brother. Sorry to hear that. Both having the surgery and missing the Western Adventure. I'm bummed.
We'll salute you from the top of Pikes Peak.

I like Rocker's viewpoint as I am an introvert. Best road is an empty one. Never done big Galveston, TX bike fests, too many people.
New Ulm has a pretty cool venue though. Would like to go to COTA again though.
Bliss for me is an empty road with hills and curves, and no traffic, by myself...
