Title: New Pull Behind Trailer...
Post by: guzziknight on June 10, 2015, 04:16:03 PM
I finally put a hitch onto my EV...Thanks Wayne! I started looking for a trailer to pull behind the EV. I found this one on Craigslist about 1.5 hours from my house. It's a Piggybacker trailer, almost brand new. It has a spare tire, cooler carrier and a swivel coupler. On my ride home, it didn't even feel like I was pulling anything. I'm quite happy with it, and will use it for Guzzis in the Blue Ridge so my wife and I can camp.

I just have to take the Harley stickers off...

Aren't all trailers the pull behind type?

Nice rig!

This just in from the Head Supervising Director of the Department of Redundancy Department:

Nice looking set-up.

Cute little pull behind trailer in the back behind the pulling, trailering-rig motorcycle up front.

I always wonder, do you guys see those in the mirrors or do you even want to? Seems I can never get used to a top-box in the mirrors as I don't leave them there permanently. Consequently, a couple times an hour I can have a flash of "WTF!" with peripheral noting of it before a rapid "Oh yeah..."

I guess it never bothered me.
I used to tow a low home made trailer, and I actually added small poles to it just so I would remember it was back there. It is a bad thing to forget, and start passing too close to parked cars and such, forgetting that you are a lot wider than normal.

Nice rig!

Well, when you hear the words "motorcycle trailer", what do you invision?

I'll bet it's not a small trailer pulled behind a motorcycle.

Most of the time "motorcycle trailer" means a trailer pulled behind a pickup, hauling a Harley.

That's why "pull behind motorcycle trailer" is used for trailers that are pulled behind motorcycles!

Questions to ask self, what if you have a blow out on a trailer tire? Will it put you in the ditch? Will you use safety chain at hitch? Is that safe on a motorcycle? If you don't is it safe for other motorists?

People that do not use safety chains on trailers are selfish a??holes.

On the way home from the national rally near Mount Rushmore in 2004(?), in Nebraska, a truck ahead of use towing a horse trailer went over a bump and the trailer came off. The trailer drifted across the road and nearly hit a motorcyclist coming toward us head on.
It is the peak of selfishness to wish your choice/mistake/bad luck, to cause possible harm to others. Secure your loads...

Along the same lines. Many years ago I was towing a cargo trailer behind my motorcycle with some equipment for work. I was in a hurry, and had forgotten to flip down the latch. I went over a bump out on the main road and the trailer came off the ball. I felt it bump against the rear tire a few times. I simply stopped, reattached the trailer to the ball PROPERLY this time, and went about my business. Without the chains, there surely would have been a lot of damage to something.

The one and only time I've ever had a trailer come loose, it broke the chains like they weren't even there.

A longer tongue will keep the trailer handling nicely with a loaded cooler in the rack. Add (or replace) 2ft.

And a motorcycle trailer is also pulled behind the tow vehicle...
