Title: Miserable shite
Post by: Sasquatch Jim on June 11, 2015, 07:08:50 AM
Just what kind of bugs has the government turned loose on us now? I haven't got much sleep the last three nights.
It started as a tickle in my throat and by monday was a cockle burr the size of a golf ball that made swallowing impossible. Having no medicine for it, I began dripping small amounts of honey which soothed it somewhat but it was still there. I had improved by tuesday night so that the pain was minor but the nose began to stuff up and run. By this time I have cepacol and was still using the honey. The drinking of fluids,( various fruit juices and water) has me getting up hourly at night to piss.
I was feeling better this midday but when I went to bed It came back with a vengeance. My nose is raw from wiping it and still runs like a grunion. The throat is back to raw from hacking and every time I hack I fart. Now that is scary. I am wearing one of those Dr Kildare nose masks trying to protect the sweet little hippie chick who is bravely taking care of me, - cooking, cleaning etc. My noises at night are probably keeping her awake too. I just hope to hell she doesn't get this awful bug.
She actually knows how to make healthy foods taste good. Here I am now at one AM pecking on this laptop cause there is no sleep to be had. Okay, that's my gripe of the day, or night.

Might be what I have.  Seems it's been going around.  Lungs are clear and not viral.  More of the palate being dry.  Try some nasal saline spray.  I've been doing the hack cough myself.  Mauri says "Aloha!".  The kid is home for summer.

Just the opposite here. My Earth Mother is down for the count and it's me with the chicken and rice soup. I have been juicing greens from the garden hoping to boost the immune system.

Aloha to all three of you and I hope you don't have the same bug as me.  My throat pain has reached as high as 8 this morning.
If it weren't for the oxycodone this would be no fun at all.

Hopefully, your bugs will not have enough oomph to make it all the way down here. :undecided:

I looked up on my I-pad how many jobs I have ahead of me and I am booked solid till the end of the  oomph. I can't afford to catch that!

Jim , how much oxycodone have you taken ?

  Dusty

Three about 4 1/2 hours apart.  Along with occasional sips of Pretussin DM.  The oxy is managing the pain and the pretussin has me hacking up
 vast quantities of lung loogies.

Just don't go dyslexic like I did last time I had to take Hydrocodone. Prescription was for two every four hours. For a day I was doing four every 2 hours.  The pain was VERY well controlled. Lorraine caught the mistake and thus did end my trip on the happy bus. :thewife:

I'm a little better now.  One oxy last night to get to sleep.  Throat pain is now survivable but the wheezing and rattling of my walking pneumonia
keeps me awake.  I have hacked up so much flem It is causing me weight loss.  238 on monday when this thing made its' presence painful,
231 this morning.  Considering that I have done no exercise in that time period it has to be flem loss.  I just love my little hippie girl, she has bravely stayed by me dicing up healthy foods and keeping my morale high.  Cups of medicinal tea and such.  I have never known such a loyal girl.
Most would have abandoned a sick old geezer long ago.

I'll do better than that in a couple of weeks.  She will be going back to the big land to see relatives and do a music tour.
She will need some walk around money then.  Oh, and I bought her ticket.

That's nice. Good job. Sometimes being a caregiver can be a thankless job!

Big Jim,

Glad you are feeling somewhat better. We all need a hippie chick from time to time. I am now a guzzi-ista once again. Got a 2009 Norge with 6K miles.... to add to my V50 Mk3 (which is getting a hack in the next month or so) The Norge makes Guzzi #7. Be well! We will see on the island sooner rather than later......

It has been sunny and warm to the extreme.  60's and 70's every day with few exceptions. Wenatchee was 97 when I drove through on Thursday.  Good riding weather to be sure.   Buckaroo

Another weekend.  No riding.  Sinuses unloading now, and last quick day with youngest daughter home, and took her to airport this morning, and of course, rain.  Maybe next weekend?  Might set a new record for consecutive weekends not riding?  ugh.  Took a 3 hour nap with poodle on couch...

I feel your pain. Six inches since Friday morning at my house. It's sporadic but heavy.

Having the extra car (Mazda 3 or BMW 330-- take your pick)  makes rolling a bike out of the garage even more of a hassle.  Taking bimmer or beahmer or whatever to Carmax and selling it next weekend.  Enough of the blue grenade.  Red Mazda is the keeper.  Mainly need to feel normal with some energy.  Depressed.
