Title: Orange suspenders for the Norge
Post by: Waltr on June 11, 2015, 07:01:54 PM
Matris KE + ID shock and KE fork kit.

So far so good, right now only around 40 miles but all the nervous jittering and hard bumps are gone.  Set pretty soft and very good stability and relaxed feeling.

Fork kit took some fiddling to get everything fit, shock is SaaWeet.
We just became a dealer for Matris and my bike was the trial to see if the company was responsive to having the components built to spec.  They did a good job.

Ok, got the pictures to load.  I have been wanting to do something with the suspension on the Norge since new.  The bike was over sprung and under damped up front.  It lead to a nervous feeling, a jiggling sensation even on near perfect roads. The springs did not seem to allow all the travel also.  The rear shock seemed to have too much compression damping but weak springs.  I can only describe it as a very exhausting ride for long distance.  On the one short ride home from work tonight gone was all the useless feedback from road irregularities.  Don't take this wrong but the bike felt as if it was bigger and heavier. It did steer a little slower but it is set at the base soft settings. The bike did respond on command it just did not react to every little bump and ripple as it did before.  THIS is what I asked MATRIS for.  The fork travel is much greater so the suspension works.
As I get some miles in I will report back.

Yes, a good ride report is anticipated. If it really works out then this might be on my list as well.

I fitted the Matris fork kit last week on my Breva 1100 and it is a much sweeter ride. The bike just feels more planted and responsive in turns and I feel more competent as a rider. I ordered the Penske 8900e rear shock and when fitted I will report the results. I ordered the Penske on the strength of my Stelvio having one when I purchased the bike and love the way the bike handles and rides. I do not believe I would hesitate to purchase the Matris rear shock now after the results I have experienced with the fork kit.

Oh yes, the fork kit was very easy to fit, just plug and play, the hardest thing was fitting the front axle. I also used 15w fork oil.
