Ride with your mouth open and you won't need to stop for dinner.

I've ridden through a mayfly swarm. It was nasty. Had to stop every 5 miles to clean off my visor. My shoulders were yellow.

Yuck.

I went down in a swarm that were around a street light in a curve near my home when I lived in
Southern Ohio. I didn't get hurt, but I wished I was dead with all that nasty bug guts everywhere. Man that was nasty.

Have ridden through grasshopper infestation on the prairies a while back.  Nowhere near as bad as the story here, but those grasshoppers sure hurt when the hit the shins!!!

We once drove our camper van through 75 miles of Mormon Crickets.  Looked like this:

About the last three miles we came upon a motorcyclist going the opposite way.  Ugh.  The crushed bodies made the roadway very slick.  The bodies and innards splashed up against our hot exhaust and were thence baked.  Spent a fortune at the coin car wash in Elko to try and rid the stink.  I still can't contemplate the biomass.  These were not just on the road, they were marching across the desert on both sides of the road.  For miles as far as one could see.
