Title: Why no RED Eldorado?
Post by: Buddy Shagmore on June 17, 2015, 12:01:00 AM
I am jonesin' for a new Eldorado, but it would have to be in red. I see they offer it elsewhere, but why not in the USA?
What's up with that? I don't get it.

And when are they gonna give it the footwear it deserves?

It's the Guzzi way.

Yep, paste the red pictures all over the place and not send it to states, not good karma.

They had to paint the red ones black in the 70s to sell them here. Could it be they're paying attention to their sales history?

I agree. The black one looks nice, but the red one looks great!

Oh we always want what we can't have.

I'll bet when the red ones come over next year, 9 out of 10 guys who said they were waiting for the red will pass.   I know a couple Guzzi dealers, they have seen it happen over and over.   No aspersions cast on any of the fine posters here.

They should sell them primered and every buyer can just paint it the way they want....

Thread revival. I see red Eldos are on the usa website now, which has sparked my interest again.
Any '16 Eldo owners here? It is a top-heavy bike? Any owner reports/reviews appreciated.

There are a couple of us here. I love mine. At this time, I have just under 7K on it and there have been no issues at all. Hepco Becker have finally released a set of C-Bow mounts for this bike and they have various bag options for those. Other than the smallish overpriced leather bags from Guzzi, that is the only bag option for this model. I put the 35L H-B Big Buffalo leather bags on mine. After using the bike for a trip this past weekend, I can say I'm glad I did not go smaller on the bags.

I do not feel it being top heavy myself.

The seat is comfortable right out the gate. Unusual for many motorcycles.

Although it has been frustrating waiting for dedicated bags, and those are aftermarket, I have no regrets in having gotten this bike. Generally in the mid 40's mpg, but I have seen as high as 48.7. (Perfect conditions I suppose.) My calculations are always GPS miles against fuel put into the tank. Although I have not pushed it that far, I have calculated that I could get a real 200 miles out of a tank of fuel if I had to. I'm good with that.

It handles way better than it ought to, just based on what most would perceive looking at a cruiser.

I like it. I have no regrets buying it. I would buy it again!

John Henry

edit: I also noticed the red has shown up on the US web site. Might be worth asking a dealer if they can be ordered.

Another Eldorado owner here, it is a fantastic bike, not at all top heavy, and wonderful on the highway and twisty roads.

I'm waiting on my H-B mounts, and I will have the C-Bow bags, too, they are really nice.

Go for it, you won't be disappointed!

I saw a red Eldorado on the showroom floor at Razee Motorcycle Center in North Kingstown, RI yesterday.  My first impression is that it's huge.

So I assume you've put down a deposit at your nearest dealer and ordered a red Eldo?

I think both the black and red ones would look awesome with white fenders.

The new Eldo would look good in red if they had gone ahead and finished the job.  As it is it looks odd to me,  just a red tank and side covers stuck on a black one.
Proper red Eldorado has white fenders.

I have the "large touring" one, it is apparently same size as the Cali 1400 Touring.

To my eye, there is one glaring design problem with the look of these 1400 bikes, that is the vertical line created at the front of the saddle, the front of the body panel below the saddle, and the front edge of the cover over the front end of the swing arm.  That running vertical line makes it look like the bike was cut in half, something removed from ahead of the "cut line", then the two halves were stuck back together.  The designer should have broken up that vertical line.

My eye is also not keen on the necessary rectangular notch of the tank for the heads/valve covers.  Just my opinions.  I bet they are great bikes, though, regardless of these architectural issues.  I do like the white walls on the Eldorado.  I wonder if I could find those for my red V7II Stone?

Yeah.  Simply curving the front edge of the side cover would've broken up that line.

I never noticed that vertical line until you pointed it out. Thanks a lot :( . Now that's all I see.

I also like those whitewall tires, they really look good on that bike.

So when do you take delivery of your new RED Eldo?  Be sure to post pictures!

Guzzi supposedly offers a medium windshield, buts its dimensions are the same as the regular Touring shield. I have that shield on my Custom, but stock, the top of the shield was right in my line of vision -- very annoying -- so I had it cut down exactly 2 inches, while preserving the original shape as much as possible. Now it's perfect., a huge improvement.
