I don't think l could have planned a more frustrating ride. My partner's mechanical problems were just the start. After riding over 800 miles we are just 500 Interstate miles from Helena MT. Of late, we have been riding into the eye of tropical storm Bill's wrath. Anywhere east and south puts us into severe weather. Are we are light weights? But what is the point fighting deluges day after day? We're inching toward Scott's Bluff, Carhenge and points south east but I wonder how long can we survive dampened weather and spirits. While it is excelsior for now, I can't help but think someone is trying to tell us something. Damn, I was looking forward to tri-tips and bar-b-q and a history lesson.

Darn close to 100F the past two days here in the Old Dominion (Virginia) and it's not summer yet. I can deal with rain but when it gets this hot for days on end a motorcycle trip stops being fun. West and north make more sense to me.

Consider a diversion/change of plan.. The Minnesota rally on the shore of Lake Superior is 9 days away and I'll guaranty it won't be too hot.. probably mid 70's

Ya can worry and bitch about the weather or you can ride and make the best of it. It's your choice.
Me, I ride and enjoy the journey. A rainy day on the road beats a sunny day at the office.......

I'm confused...500 mi from Helena, MT and riding thru TS Bill? Bill's in TX right now. Where are they?
-
Bill is messing with weather from Texas to Illinois. Two Old Guys Riding don't havta prove nothing. Still, we'll see what's east but may shut the door on craziness...

You said a mouthful there! I'd rather be wetter than a drowned rat than be here right now.

She sends me

6-10 inches of rain forecast for some areas of TX and OK. I wouldn't ride into that.

Riding to the South this time of year it was going to be hot & humid, but this summer it's also flooding from Texas on all the way up to Colorado. Unless you're a gluten for punishment, change your plans. I eat tri-tip regularly in Arizona & did in California. :boozing:

96 at 1505 but feels like 106. 50% humidity. Going to be like that for another two months at least. That's why you see all the Harleys parked at the bar. :boozing:

Thats as far as they could go without a chase vehicle.
Sunday I saw a group of them at our local QT, all enjoying cold drinks...from the trunk of the chase car.

What the hell is a chase car? Is that the one with the blue flashing lights?
