So on my 2001 jackal I have something draining the battery. I have 4 cables hooked up to positive and 4 to negative. 2 of the main cables are fine, no sparks when I hook them up. 2 other smaller ones are drawing power. I'm 99% sure that one set goes to the heated grips that were "removed" before I got the bike. Wires are still there and live apparently but no grips. The other one I have no clue what they might go to. I hook up the 2 positive good ones and bike ignition on, lights turn on brakes work, but the fuel pump doesn't make that priming noise. I attempt to start and it just turns over but one catch because of fuel I'm assuming.
Any ideas?
I replaced the battery thinking that was it, because it would only start with a jump on Friday. It stalled a few times on the way home, so I thought it was a battery issue.
Anyways, am I now dealing with a battery and fuel pump issue?

First thought is to only drive it on Fridays. :laugh:
The fuel pump grounds with ~16ga black wire with a ring connector. I don't remember if it connects directly to the battery, but it could be one of your ground leads. Check by reinstalling all wires and then pull them one at a time until the pump stops. IIRC, the ecu grounds the same way. Hot happens from a relay that is fired from the ecu. So either the ecu hot/ground or the pump hot/ground could be why the pump won't run.
You've got a parasitic drain. One could be the heated gear wiring. You can check that with an volt meter from the known hot end of the wire to ground. Then do the battery disconnects until you find the other end of the wire.
There's not a lot else OEM that could be giving sparks with the key out of the ignition. The regulator and alternator come to mind.
I have installed a battery cutout on mine. All the grounds collect to one side of the cutout (a resettable breaker) and the other side is a single wire to the battery. Pop the cutout and the battery is isolated from everything.

Yeah, hooking all 4 back up the fuel pump primes. Tomorrow I'll start disconnecting 1 at a time and see where the problem lies.

Sometimes on these problems when I rediscover my baseline I feel like a panicked swimmer feeling bottom. Then I'm reluctant to go back to the deep end. But I always do. Take a break for the night and hit it fresh in the morning.

The ECU has a tiny drain, I guess to keep the memory but not enough to spark.
GPS docking stations will draw a little even without the unit plugged in.
Do you have an after market regulator? They can draw a few milliamps.
You can leave all the negatives in place, they won't do any harm
Heres what a 98 EV has

Note a red wire to each ECU fuse, another to the ignition switch.
If you have an odd coloured wire (not Red) on battery positive treat it with suspicion (the main starter cable is black)
As well look down on the solenoid where the main cable attaches, sometimes they use that spot to tap extra wires on.
Have you tried measuring the current with multimeter? if you don't have one put a tiny 12 Volt lamp in series, a 12V LED is perfect because it will light up with about 5 milliamps.
You have to be careful measuring milliamps with a multimeter, 9 x out of 10 the fuse is blown and they read zero which is misleading.

Looked further into it. The heated grip wires were plugged into the same relay as the aux lights up front. Disconnect those. So I have the 2 normal wires going to the battery plus one for the HID light kit.
I tapped up and secured those extra wires for the aux lights and the heated grips. I'll yank em out when I get a chance. Also found my rear turn signal bulb went out :( no worries on that. I'll replace it tomorrow.
I'll let you guys know if it dies on me again tomorrow.
