Title: Moto Guzzi's in Houston TX
Post by: Moto Rizzi on June 27, 2015, 10:13:35 PM
Just wanted to know who has a Guzzi here in Houston. I've had my Breva 1100 since Feb '15 and haven't come across any. I usually ride on the weekends and to work sometimes but really haven't traveled to far out. Also saw something about a Guzzi club in Texas and was hoping someone had some info.

You live in Houston, which is home to arguably one of the top 5 (or 2?) Moto Guzzi dealers in the US.
Ride by these guys' shop, and I'm sure you'll quickly learn everything about the local Guzzi scene within a few hundred miles. And, welcome. :thumb:

Welcome to the forum.  Dave from Galveston here.  Some online Guzzi resources.  GRIT Guzzi Riders in Texas Facebook page run by Darrel Horton of Palestine, Texas.  GRIT hosts Rally in Lindale Texas 1st weekend in OCT. each year.  Houston Euroriders Yahoo forum hosts meet ups in Houston.  MGNOC Moto Guzzi National Owners Club website is definitely worth a look lots of info even for nonmembers.  This forum. A treasure trove of information, opinion and comraderie.

MPH definitely can provide for your Guzzi needs.  Top 5 hah!  Undisputably the best MG dealership in the country.  Stirring the pot here.

I'm sure Lucydad and my Okie brother Dusty will chime in soon.  PM me if you get down my way.

A bunch of us get together on Tuesday nights for dinner at Napoli on Memorial Dr. just west of Dairy Ashford.  There's also a Thursday night group, mostly for inside the loopers.

All are welcome regardless of what you ride.  Just try not to be too serious about anything.

There is a Yahoo! group as well.  Search for Houston Euroriders.

Definitely check out the Napoli's connection:

Also, a group of us (5-8 riders) ride fairly regularly on Sundays - we are 2 to 3 Norges, a V7, sometimes a Griso, occasionally a Centauro, Jackal and a couple other brands show up from time to time.  We typically meet at I-10 and Greenhouse Sunday mornings, very close to MPH and then head out for 3-5 hours depending on where we decide to go...Coffee, Breakfast or lunch and a nice ride always on the menu.  Most rides 100-200 miles depending on how much time the guys have available to ride.

If you're interested, send me a PM with your phone # and I'll add you to the text notification I send out to the guys to ride.

What part of town are you in?

Cheers,
Paul

I live inside the loop (close to the Heights) and have three friends with Guzzis. One has two old LeMans. one a
'13 Stelvio and the other has a new V7 Racer.
The Thursday night thing is at Shephard Park (34th and North Shephard) meets about 8.

The wife and I vacationed near there years ago and we went to the Tuesday night thing at Napoli. Definitely a good group of enthusiasts. I asked Todd what time we should get there and his response was, "Ever tried to herd cats?"

I didn't know this was still going on.  The last time I went it was still at Ming's,  I guess its been 10 years or so.

I'm here in League City, and am out riding most weekends as long as the weather cooperates.  Although I'm usually headed out around the Brenham area, down the coast, or somewhere in the forest.  I generally avoid the area circled on the map an marked with an 8, and really try to avoid the smaller circle marked with 610.

I will have to try the Shephard Park draught house next time around.

By all means, anyone interested in joining our Sunday ride...feel free to chime in here and send me a PM with your phone number, glad to add you to the group.

Thanks,
Paul

Sunday ride:

8:30 am meeting at Starbucks at I-10 and Greenhouse, south side of I-10.  Very close to MPH.

We meet for coffee, admire each other's steel horses and then ride for a few hours.

Come one and all...let's have un piccolo radunno di Guzzisti ...Houston style!

All brands welcome too!

Definitely on the calendar for this year Dusty...hoping to make it  I missed the GRIT rally last year, but a convoy of Guzzi's headed north with Dave and the boys would be a lot of fun!!  We'll use our Sunday runs to practice riding in a peloton!

Sounds like fun...I've been thru several times on various road trips, to the Tallgrass Praire reserve to see the bison, the wildlife refuge near Pawhuska (sp?) and criss crossed thru on the way up to visit family in Wisconsin...but would love to do it on the Guzzi...may even have to extend the trip up to the Badlands...as I'd be 1/2 way there practically!

Looking forward to it!

Dusty,

I am struggling with rapidly used, and limited 2015 vacation days.  2016 is going to be much, much more open after May retirement.  By the way, that concept is becoming crystalized after financial review and planning with home in Durango, CO.

Just you wait, we will meet.

cheers

Sounds like Durango should be the home base for a bunch of riding...what better place to ride from and around than there!   Some of the best towns to visit nearby!

Moto Rizzi...

Very likely Little Goose and I will swan out around 9 AM this Saturday.  Destination who knows, but likely home by noon due to heat.  Where do you want to meet on highway 6 near your house?  If you are up for it, I will send you a PM.  My black V7R is pretty unique....let's ride!

I can't make it sat due to work. Going out of town next week for 2 weekends. I work every other sat so when I get back I will try to hookup. Sunday's work also and can meet anywhere depending on which way you want to go.

Great morning. I know it's been a while since a last post. I wanted to check in and see where the Houston crowd went to. I'm near clearlake with a V7 II stone. Don't know how much time I'll have to ride however, I'd love to keep my options open.

Have been travelling a lot out of town in the last couple of months, so I haven't been around to ride a lot, if the weather would hold off from raining over the next couple of months, we can get a small group out again for Winter/Spring time riding in Jan/Feb...

Typical meeting spot is I-10 & Greenhouse (Starbucks) to head out towards Fulshear/Brookshire/Fayetteville roads which are more interesting to ride.

If you guys want to do a Hwy 36 run down to Freeport/San Luis pass as well, that's an option.

In a couple months, I'm going to be more on the north side of town rather than in town, so rides would be more towards the North (Sam Houston, Chappel Hill and north).

Any of you Houstonians going to MotoGP in April?

Since Dusty (representing Cedar Vale Events, LTD) and MotoGP management apparently settled competing event dates this year I'd like to see my first MotoGP race... :thumb:

Not going from Houston but from Okla City.  Probably leave on Friday or Saturday (Thursday night is Tom Petty / Joe Walsh kick-off tour right here in OKC!).

Then may stick around a couple of days and ride the sisters on Monday.   Might be a couple of other WG folks involved in OKC and Austin.

I know some good back roads across the river through Ill Bend and St Jo to 281.

And more importantly a good deal on a hotel if we want a WG meet up.

Kindly keep me in the loop.   I may motor down from Dallas for one of these events.  Still need to see this alleged Scura in person.

And the new guy has to go with us to Ceddar Vale.   Paul can lead you, and we'd all love to have you there.  Just bring plenty of extra spark plugs.

I'm going to the Handbuilt Motorcycle Show the same weekend as Moto GP in Austin. I've gone the last 2 years. Stay with friends in Dripping Springs yet I never make Harvest Classic. I'm near NRG. I ride a Quota. I'm building an Eldo .

Best Regards,
Les
