Today, we said goodbye to our dear friend JN Smyth.   He will be missed, yet we have great memories of him.  I collected a few photos going back to 2008.

Just returned from the 400 mile round trip for JN's funeral. The preacher was wonderful. Probably set a record for the amount of
wranglers and Levi's at a service!

I told his wife that if all of his Guzzi friends were here Eastern OK would be swamped. Oh, his last surviving brother (95) was there.

The preacher said he didn't know if there was Moto guzzis in heaven, but if there is, he knew who would be riding one.

What a pleasure it was for me to spend a lotof time with him over the years.

Sounds like JN had quite a turnout today, wish I could have been there. But you know, work, work, work. He was a great man and he will be missed. It's been an honor to know him. We'll all raise a glass to him at the Okie campout this fall! Hope you can be there Mikey and Ken!

I did not know JN well.  Met him at a few rallies.    Impressive gentleman.

There was a nice Guzzi turnout at his funeral.

Also was able to attend. I think JN would have been pleased with the service. Also some great fellowship with the regional Guzzi clan that attended. God broke the mold that made JN.

Best part of the service was one of JN's grandsons rode his black n yellow Guzzi in the lead to the cemetery.

And in classic JN style after a turn, the turn signal was still going. Had to giggle a bit.

Gonna miss ya JN. This next Oklahoma camp-out will be a special one.

It was nice to be part of J.N.'s last ride and seeing some faces I haven't seen in a while.  I just got home after knocking off a little over 600 miles round trip.  Took advantage of being in Oklahoma and rode another 120 or so south of Pittsburg to spend the night with my Uncle in Millerton.  It was a little hot, but I'll take that over rain any day.

I snapped a few photos of the event.

Aw shit...

I am very happy to have known and befriended JN.  I am also extremely glad I called and spoke with him when he was in the hospital a couple months ago.

If I was still a Guzzi rep or held a NAR, I would dedicate an award in JN's honor to be given away at such events. Just my $0.02.

When John 'BJ' Schwartz passed, I had about 100 little IN MEMORY patches made up and gave them out at his funeral. If anyone makes one or sees one for sale, I'd love to have one to sew onto my vest. Thanks,

Ride hard, ride long, JN!!!!

JN had a great run. I enjoyed talking to him once...I wonder who holds the "oldest" rider title among us now?

Very sorry to hear that. I met him only once at my very first Guzzi Rally in 2004. It was quite an inspiration to me to see someone still so active and enjoying life. I suspect there are Guzzis in Heaven and probably some great twisty roads as well.

Thanks for the thread Michael D.

I"m sorry that my work kept me away.  Taking off for Colorado last week, and the holiday this week means it's pretty busy at the office!

I received the following from "JN's Niece" today. Lets see if we can try out the new server by replying to her

First, please note that I picked Doug's name as my recipient as we met, I think, at the motel in Kiowa, OK. I hope he will share my expression of gratitude. I know many of you kept in telephone contact with Uncle J.N., and I know your calls were much appreciated and certainly helped to life his spirits! I was so surprised (and pleased) that some of you even called from Germany!

And a great big "thank you" to those who attended Uncle J.N.'s funeral service on Tuesday, June 29, 2015. I had the opportunity to meet some of you who stayed at the same motel as my family and I did. It was so nice to hear stories about my uncle, and his well-known passion for his Moto Guzzi. The motorcycle procession from the church to the cemetery was impressive, as was the Patriot Guard. Thanks also to those of you who would have attended had you been able to. This was a very difficult day for the Smyth family; your presence and support helped make it a better day, and created a cherished memory of this sad day. God bless you all. SSW
