I'm in the middle of pulling the starter for replacement (dang thing only lasted 92,000 miles!) and it occurred to me that while I have access, it might be worth a little brake cleaner spray into the clutch and flywheel housing to rinse out what's been building up in there since 2011.
Any thoughts, pro or con, from the assembled collective wisdom?
BTW, the starter for post-2006 is NOT the same one as on earlier big blocks (and most pre-2006 Guzzis for that matter). The current one is a Bosch 0-001-106-407. I found that Amazon had one listed, actually from themselves of all places; cost was just over $100 plus shipping. A rebuild would have cost about $85, so new made sense.

It's slipping a bit, under harsh use, not under normal conditions. Then again, it's probably about time to consider a clutch replacement too. If I were more handy and had better tools and hoists, I'd do it. Instead it will wait a while yet, or at least until it slips enough to be a problem. How long do clutches last on the Norge? Anybody getting much more than 100,000 miles?

If it's slipping check that the plunger in the barrel on the clutch lever hasn't come loose and wound itself out.
