One of my favorite campouts. Unfortunately I won't be going for the 2nd year in a row. Last year it was knee surgery. This year it is the same time as my 50th HS Reunion. I'm sure the campout would be more fun, but "the one who must be obeyed" would really like to go the reunion. Guess where I'm going this year. I hope to make the Georgia campout later this year.

Will there be another whiskey competition like last year?  If so I'll be there  :thumb:

What? My interest has been peaked.

My memory is a little fuzzy, but I recall some of the the entries were:

Basil Hayden
Angel's Envy
A Woodford Reserve of some sort
Bulleit

Not sure which one won however.  The official pourer, Muley, lost sight of the sample size and we had a hard time tallying the votes.    :copcar:

Also there were debates of which cigar paired better with a particular hooch but I don't recall how that ended up either.

Guys, I have never been to this campground.. is there an earthen ramp or anything for loading/unloading a non running bike from a pickup? I might bring this ambo I just bought instead of riding in...

There's a ramp and car/trailer parking outside the campground.

I may roll out the Ambo and lean a sign on it that says 'loop experts come give opinions/advice' and sit there with a notebook, scribbling.

I got a bit of a frankenbike here, and missing more than a couple pieces.. Deff would like some advice.

Actually, it was Belle Meade, and as I recall the Basil Hayden came out on top.  (Although I did have some Angel Envy Tuesday night, and it's pretty good, too.)  BTW, I was pouring my own so my memory should be reliable.  Any inkling of cigars will send me far, far away.

Everyone bitched about the Woodford but somehow it disappeared first.

I've been "Turning Japanese" this year so depending on what I have left I may bring something from the island.  Nikka Coffey Grain is my personal favorite (I'm a corn liquor guy anyway) but Suntory has been a hit with the Scotch guys around here.

I am certainly planning to be there, this time with a brand new (to me) bottle of bourbon.  It was purchased in upstate NY by one of my sons and presented to me for father's day.  I have not molested the seal yet.  Just in case the northern brew is swill, I will also bring my personal favorite - Gentleman Jack.

I have invited the boss lady to attend but only if she rides the EV up there.  Surprisingly, she didn't rule that out :undecided:  Here is the logistical problem if she decides to call my bluff. It will be the Pisgah Inn for her and probably me as well since there is no way on earth to carry her, her three day supply of clothes, etc. and my camping gear too.  So it's either stay at the Inn which means no bourbon contest or sleep on the sofa yet again.

In any event, I will see y'all there :thumb:

I just ordered my entrance and it will be here on Friday.  I'm going with one I've never tried so I bought another bottle to "sample" this weekend.  This one isn't from Japan however.  I'm going for a little "Rocky Mountain Way"

Anyone going.
July 31, Aug 1 & 2.

Just back from a 4 day camping run up to Unicoi, Little Switzerland, Linville Falls, Roan Mtn .... just a great time. We were fortunate in looked like rain every day but not a drop, temps under 80 everyday. Found the best tent only campground but just not going to share, if you you spend time on Google Earth, you might find this gem. Also, so many semi single lane roads along the streams and farms, beyond expectations but took days of mapping the best way points in my GPS.

This is a folder of 2 mixed trips, one on the Stelvio and prior on my Versys. They both have their pluses and minuses in the twisties.

Great group! My first time at Cruso & only my second rally overall; we will definitely be back!

Rode out Friday solo and brought Lisa on Saturday... Perhaps we will camp next year, but considering the campground is less than an hour from the house.. Who knows!

A couple pics of my favorite bikes!

Two very nice wire wheel 1000s in the CORRECT/FASTEST color scheme

Met quite a few people, reconnected with some locals I've met out and about but never had a chance to really talk to at length..

I know I met Kirby, Nick, Rosso Woody? And I'm sure a lot of other ppl from here without even knowing it!

Lisa enjoyed it as well and has now decided she wants to ride to more rallys..  I think what did it was all the compliments on her Guzzi 'cut' she worked so hard 'distressing' and beating the crap out of...

Food was good, campground was great. The setting was perfect~~ we have some of the best weather & roads in the U.S. Here but ya'll already knew that right!  :Beating_A_Dead_Hors e_by_liviu

Already looking forward to next year.. Safe travels & keep the rubber side down if you are traveling back today fellas & ladies!

Marion and I stopped by Saturday about noon. We both wanted to stay but maybe not a good I Idea so after an hour we headed for home.  The drive up Friday was uneventful and we arrived at the motel about 1800. An  hour latter  we were in Bryson City at our  favorite  pizza joint. So far so good.   Saturday Marion was just  able to get me into the van and that  just sucked.  We planed on staying un till Sunday but  plans change.  Sorry to miss everyone.   :boozing:

Just got home from the rally. Had a blast, as always. We couldn't ask for better weather: 75-80 during the day and 50's at night. Perfect!! Great seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

This was my second Guzzi Rally and I'm already looking forward to the next one.

We tried to get a picture of just the three of us (Jim, Rick and Kevin) but Mark can run faster than I thought.

We got home a little while ago. 8 1/2 hours on what is usually a 6 hour ride due to road construction delays. Sure was hot on I-75.

I don't want to bombard anyone with pictures so here is a link to more from this weekend. It's mostly Guzzis but I have to warn you that there's an Enfield, a Norton and a Triumph Daytona in the set but they were too pretty not to include them.
