Title: speedo light
Post by: highmiler on July 09, 2015, 03:14:35 PM
Has anyone ever changed the light bulb in the Veglia speedo before? If you have done it, how do you get into it. I don't usually ride at night but a lighted speedo can be helpful sometimes!!

Helps if we know what bike - lots of Guzzis used Veglias.

I have 4 of them, all from the 80's. Every one of them the light socket is just plugged in to the housing. The might be stuck and need persuasion. A couple have a rubberized plug in, and carry 2 wires, hot and ground. The others have only a hot wire, as they ground to the speedo case.

Since he wrote: "how do you get into it", I assume he wants to know how to access the lights (open the "dash" or instrument panel). That would vary widely from an Ambassador to an EV.

I replaced all the instrument and idiot lights with LED's when I restored the bike.

Remove headlight.
Remove the middle chrome piece ,below the idotlights.
Remove chrome cup below speedo, then you see the bulb holder.

Yup!! You're correct!! I didn't mention what bike I need help with. SORRY! My ride is a '98' EV. I took the wind shield off and can see two screws in back (front) of it. Will remove those , maybe it will remove to reveal something I recognise. Thanks for the replys         JC
