Title: Looking for recommendations - sun protection for my Norge at work.
Post by: ItsForrest on July 11, 2015, 08:49:48 AM
Need a cover for my Norge. Any recommendations?
I've checked Cycle Gear locally and Amazon and there are about 50 different covers ranging from ~$20 to well over $100. If you have one that fits your Norge with the trunk on, I would like to hear about it.
I need a nice cover to protect my bike while parked outside at work. I live in North Carolina so the concern is roasting in the hot sun during the day. I have ridden it to work once and didn't like the fact that it was too hot to hold my hand on the paint. This can't be good for it.
Since sun is the concern, I'm wanting a silver cover, not black.

I ride to work year round. Sun protection is important.
I used to use big heavy canvas covers. They do protect the bike, but if it gets wet, you have a 200 pounds wet cover to pack away at the end of the day. And I ended up replacing them a lot more often then I expected. They aren't cheap.
So I switched to the half covers. The are a thin light weight material that is reflective so the cover doesn't rot. The large models even cover most of the luggage. They pack small and light.
I'll look for a link to what I had been using. The shift I work now involves more mosquitoes and bugs than sunlight.

Edit:
Like this. I think mine is the XL and it covers the luggage on the EV well.
