Why does it have to be a cross? Do they think that only Christians die?

This is SC so the answer would be yes.
Those of you who spotted the Get Back Whip and would like one here is a link. :boozing:

It is a recurring theme here in SC...someone on thecell phone or other distractions pulls right out on you....whatever works...feel like taking a laser pointer to flash the cage drivers to get eye contact ...illegal.

I'm sure they know better than that, but it IS a pretty well known memorial symbol. What's the Hindu one, anyway? Would anyone recognize it?
Be that as it may, we DON'T need any more signs/memorials/signals/notices trashing up the sides of the highways. We already have more little floweredy crosses by the side of the road, most of them ill-maintained, than you can shake a stick at.
And the proliferation of DOT signs is getting really stupid. We have "You Are Entering The Monticello Wine-Making Culture Area" and "You Are Entering Virginia's Rail-Heritage Region" and "Historic Downtown That Way" and pointers to every vineyard in the state and thousands of other signs that just distract and trash up the roadsides, and create more hazards to run into in a crash scenario ... More typical DOT stupidity ....

Drive thru NM lately? The newest thing is bicycle memorials. A guy welds up a bike out of metal (full size), paints it white and puts it at the side.
There are also a ton of 'shrines' wherever a loved one died on the highway. They look like little cemetary plots.
In AZ on US 60 between Superior and Miami there used to be crosses placed wherever anyone was killed in a crash. Meant to make people slow down. Last time I counted (1970) there were just over 100 on a relatively short stretch of road. They were removed shortly after that time frame.

Linnas,
I guess you don't want a Get Back Whip. :boozing:

These things have become their own "self-fulfilling prophecy" hazard as distractors along the roads. Lately, they've grown to gargantuan proportions in the living demanding that the rest of us share in their grief at the passing of their departed. The displays alone are bad enough but the abject lack of any responsibility for the results of foolishly stopping wherever they like to service these memorials to their dead are becoming a whole other hazard. At some point last year, or the one before, a couple of "survivors" were killed while addressing their shrine - sad irony, that.

Take a ride through some of the mountainous roads in Peru. Lots of sharp turns with steep dropoffs, no guard rails, and plenty of crosses at each one.

I had not originally seen the video showing the fat, fake, pansy poser with the "Get Back" whip and a bad look on his face riding down the road on his big bad motorcycle.
I'd better not say what I think about them, we'll have spiraling, violent thread drift in seconds ....

I suspect we were both thinking the same things. :boozing:

And just how slippery will these painted messages be in the rain?

If he's got the whip, he'll have ape hangers.

Although an ever-more-common recurring theme is the motorcyclist over-cooking a turn. My son just did it on his Kawasaki, went into a right turn way too hot on a back road and low-sided once he'd crossed the road and the wheels were on the left shoulder; thankfully, no traffic coming so just a bent bike, some sore spots, and some sacrificed armor on the riding gear.
Yesterday, a guy on the popular, winding road over "Balcony Falls" on US 501 12 miles south of Buena Vista, VA (many of you who have attended the VA rally have enjoyed that stretch of road) stuffed it into a right-hand turn, low-sided, and went under an SUV and died there .... 43 years old so not a young squid ....

I been riding since 1972 and there was no shortage of car drivers pulling out in front of you back then....Like I've said, all vehicles needed to be standard shift without all the features that make driving too much like an insulated orgasmatron...
