Title: The Norge ran so great today
Post by: canuguzzi on July 16, 2015, 09:00:32 PM
It always does but some days I guess everything comes together, the roads, the bike and the food at a good cafe. The Norge, smooth as ever just wanted to run faster and faster, hence the post about the speedo. I caught myself diving into turns much faster than usual but everything just worked out.

I took some roads I hadn't ridden before to get to the cafe and not one car ahead of me and none about to get close enough to smell the exhaust, regardless of origin.

Started out by trying the new Air Hawk seat cushion but it was like a bunson burner under my butt in short order. I tried everything even going to barely any air in it, just not working out. Stuffed it in the side bag and went on, the gell seat doing what it should, an all dayer without even a hint of numb butt.

After that it was more like a fast glide than a ride. Got home and then watched some of the video from the bike cam. Better than anything on the tube elsewhere and saw things that barely register while riding.

They say that some days the bear eats you, not today. I don't know what the bear ate but I bet it wasn't as good as what I had.

Had a bear-free day myself somewhat similar to yours.

Visited the new Guzzi dealer in Richmond, VA today, then took some back roads home about 150 miles that I've never ridden before.   Stelvio was running great - the AirHawk is on the Norton these days, because the Russell Day-Long on the Stelvio needs no help, perfect as is.

Only one squinch-up moment as a texting pickup truck driver crossed the yellow line coming at me ... I was braking and heading for the ditch when he finally jerked it back onto his side.    I hope he was a lip-reader ....

One deer jumped out of the woods about 100 feet ahead of me but I had time to slow almost to a stop before he jumped away.

One road that I was cruising nicely on suddenly turned to gravel so I was hanging on tight while I slowed down from 65 or so ....

....but overall it was a great ride.

I've been thinking about getting a GoPro camera ... I had never thought about what you mentioned, that you can watch the ride afterward and see things you didn't notice while you were riding.   I'm going to try that and see if it works for me too!

That is the problem with fast riding. You must consentrate sooo much on the road that enjoying the ride becomes secondary.

I tried to explain this to my German brothers-in-law last Sunday on our ride through the Schwabishan Alb, but them being from a country with open speed zones, they couldn't relate to what I was trying to get across. For them, an open road means full throttle. Me not.

Of course, they have lived here forever and the area is 'old hat'. For me, it's a new and beautiful land to see and enjoy.

Did not have any rain here Thurs eve. Got my Eldo out for a nice 50 mile scenic ride through Indiana cornfields. Eldo is purring like a cat.
