All, I've been getting a lot of messages lately as to where the search feature is located. It is in the upper right hand corner of the screen. If you cannot see it, you probably have that section collapsed. If that is the case, click the little white "down arrow" to the right of the Wildguzzi.com graphic with two engines on it. Doing that will expand the section and allow you to see the search window.

Thanks for that. While I didn't have it collapsed, I know I'd never have found that little white arrow if I needed to!

Might be more intuitive if it was labeled 'search' instead of Google.

Bingo!

That's a big For Sure!
So does the Google search on here search only WildGuzzi files or will it yield stuff (and ads) from all over the www?

I'm about the least tech-savvy person around, but even I know that Google = internet search !!!
Google searches are customizable, and that is what Luap did. When you click that Google search button, it automatically puts this into the Google search engine:
site:wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?board=1.0
By putting site: in front of wildguzzi.com/forum, the Google search will be limited to searching the WildGuzzi forum for your search words.
You can do that with any website. If you're wanting to search Craigslist for blinker fluid, you could type in blinker fluid site:craigslist.org on Google's homepage and get dedicated results from Craigslist.
Neat stuff, actually, and this new search feature works much better than the old one. Well, for me anyway...

Actually, you get a few sites that AREN'T WildGuzzi.
I just typed in "1157 Bulb" and got a bunch of WG references, but ALSO got "bulbs.com" and "Amazon.com".
So I think that Google is "wetting their beak", soliciting a "mordita", for the service they're providing ....

At last I'll be able to refill my blinkers.

On most forums, the Search Button is specifically to search on the particular forum.
Using a Google Button to Search WildGuzzi is akin to saying I'm going to Xerox something vs. I'm going to copy something.
Sometimes the Google button works, but most of the time it just pulls up a bunch of WildGuzzi threads...not sure what the button is actually doing then.
Maybe the fact that a few folks have had an issue finding the Search button is indicative of the need to Change it to Search! :)

I second that :1:

Good grief , my computer skills are horrible and I figured out how to use the search function , at least after Luap explained it  You guys are a bunch of picky helpless old men

The new search feature does not work as good as the old. A find a lot of extraneous things thrown in with my results.
Also WildGuzzi items that are found for more than a few months ago are in a form that does not include graphics or images originally posted.
I haven't spent much time trying to find a work-around to retrieve past postings with all images (not just links) so any suggestion or explanation will be appreciated.

That's not likely going to happen again with our current setup. The previous search functionality was probably 50% of the server capacity alone. You get 100+ people at a time searching the database and it put it into a frenzy. Doing it through google alleviates that strain on our server, leaving it to function quick all the time...not just those few times per day when no one was searching.

Yes the search function will display the original graphics , it even tells you how . Sheesh guys .

I've changed the wording from Google, to Search. Maybe that'll help distinguish it better.
Enjoy!

When you get a result that's text only, there is a hot button at the bottom of the post that says something like "Full View".
You click that and you get full graphics.

Indeed. When you get the search page results, at the top, click images. You'll be absolutely stunned on the amount of images that will pull back from only Wildguzzi's site. It truly is amazing.

I'm still looking for the "any" button, it said to click on "any" button?????
