Title: How to Mount T4/SP Fairing?
Post by: Guzzi_Don on July 26, 2015, 05:43:35 AM
I have been given a full set of upper and lower fairing bits to suit an SP1 (I think) for my T4.

I am only going to fit the upper fairing as originally fitted to the T4. I do not intend to fit the lower fairing parts that wrap around the cylinders.

I am confused as to how the upper fairing mounts. It is very hard to find any pics on the web that show how it is mounted.

I have seen a picture of the support bracket on an SP1 mounted to the threaded lug on the top triple clamp adjacent to where the fork tube pokes through it. On my T4 the instrument cluster attaches to these two threaded holes (one on each side).

Going by the T4 parts book it looks like it does not mount this way. The parts book shows a bracket (17764042) which bolts under the two forward handlebar mounting bolts and the fairing support brackets fit to that.

It's ALL very confusing.

Is there anyone out there that has a T4 and can get me some pictures. Or explain how the upper fairing does fit to the top triple clamp.

And for that matter how the instrument panel fits as well. As it could be mounted incorrectly too.

All suggestions appreciated and valued.

T4 unknown in the USA. Probably why no replies.
On an SPI the upper mounts attached to the fork tube covers. The piece that the headlight attach to. I can possibly find mine and photo them tomorrow. The lower mount is just a small angle bracket that attaches to the lower triple tree.
Remind me if you need more info. I don't read many threads here. Or best pm me for more details.

Thanks for the reply,

Yes it would appear the T4 is unknown in the USA going by the amount of replies I have received. Some say the T4 was only produced to use up the left over Spada parts.

I have sent you a PM. I would love whatever pictures you can provide to help me sort this issue out.

Thanks

On the bikes with that fairing the upper mounts bolt to the top yoke/triple clamp. The bottom of the fairing is secured by a small 'L' shaped bracket to the lower yoke at the front.

Thanks Pete for the reply.

I know where you mean, the support bracket bolts to the threaded lug which protrudes from the front of the triple clamp adjacent to where the fork tubes poke through.

The problem I have is that my instrument panel is bolted to this position. So is the instrument panel in the wrong position? If so where does the instrument panel bolt to? Obviously not to the same place the T3 instrument panel is bolted to.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

It's been REALLY cold over here lately. As low as 12deg. You're boiling -- we're freezing. At least we don't get snow here (not where I live on the coast anyway). Where Pete Roper lives, that's another story.
