$500 - $2000 Customer Cash on select models.

Worth checking with your dealer, if you're considering a new Moto Guzzi.

Which brings up the perennial question: Is a V7-II really that much better than a V7 ??
For those who own one, I'm sure the answer is YES!
-
For those who own one, I'm sure the answer is YES!
Just me if if the shifting is described as very refined like a modern bike in comparison to a pre II V7 than is it still a Guzzi?
-
Having owned and ridden both a '13 V7 Stone and a '16 V7-II Stone, I can state that there is certainly nothing worse about the '16. For me, the ABS was worth switching (others may disagree). The 6-sp gearbox and slightly roomier ergos are both plusses. Other minor differences are inconsequential.
-
It's not $2k different to me. If I was buying right now I wouldn't glance at the V7II.
Regarding the clearance deal, this applies to ALL model year 2014 and earlier new Guzzis for a $2000 savings. And I believe it stacks with the current other deal on Specials so it would be $3000 off a 2014 Special. That's an awesome deal.
-
Guzzi is getting better at marketing... Helping the dealers clear out the older models will free up capital so they can stock 2016s. IIRC, Motocycle shop in Watertown, SD has a '14 Stelvio priced at $14k, with the rebate that now $12k bike will be irresistible.

I'm a wee bit unclear. A V7 special listed for $9290. Are saying $6290 before the dealer has to cut into his profit?

That's the way to sell it
No low balls offers, I will punch you in your face for insulting this beautiful bike with a less than asking price offer. Promise her a happy home and she can be yours.
-
The $1,000 off 2014 and prior V7 Specials was good through 8/31/15.
The $2,000 off 2014 and prior Guzzis is good through 10/31/15.
"Stacking" the two would be phenomenal, but something tells me they've just updated the $1,000 Customer Cash deal to be a $2,000 Customer Cash deal.
It would be nice to get a definitive answer from one of our dealer members.

You know, yesterday that deal was still up, but you're right it seems to be gone now. But it *was* good through 8/31/15. Hmmm

Your choice, but I'd like to point out that it's not really a net $2K difference. When you eventually decide to sell the bike, you'll probably get at least $1K more for the '16 than for the '14. At that point in the future, all new and most used bikes will have ABS, and one without it will be harder to sell.
-
They are stacked together. On our 2014 Cal 1400 touring, our 2014 Norge, & 2014 Stelvio there is a total savings of $3,500 each.
At least that's how it was explained to me by my sales rep yesterday. The dealer kicks in $1750.00 and Piaggio the other $1750.00
I need to read through the program completely but the last two days have been crazy at the shop.

A 2014 V7 Special might be too hard to pass by at those prices. I've emailed a couple of close by (350 miles) dealers to see what they can do on the Specials they have on the floor...
-
I don't know how that would work out on a V7 and if they are part of the special program. Don't take what I said as fact since i havnt had a chance to read and understand the program. The last two days were a we bit crazy. I left work today frazzled, confused, and pooped. Tomorrow would normally be a day out on one of my bikes to unwind but home repairs are going to put my limited carpentry skills to the test.

FWIW - when I bought my V7 a few months back. It turned out the the dealer furthest from me was more than $500 less the any dealer in my state and this is after adding shipping to the bottom line.

Closest dealer is 120 miles, and they only have one matte black V7 Stone. No Specials. ( I like shiny paint).
Next closest dealer is 250 miles, and they have a good stock. V7 Specials in black/orange and silver/grey.
Two dealers about 350 miles away. One has a black/orange. One has a silver/grey.
I've emailed all three, so it will be interesting to see what they have to say.

Yes, I did similar with all crappy deals in the Florida area....the guy on the west coast couldn't be touched even with shipping if you do not mind going thru that potential hassle.

Probably true to an extent, though having ridden both numerous times, and seeing how aggressive Guzzi's traction control is (it literally shuts the bike down) I'd much rather be without it. I also like the overall look and riding behavior of the previous V7 better. And as I don't buy bikes with the intent of turning them around to sell soon after, I'd take my cash break up front if I were buying now. ......and use it to buy a set of Agostini's!

Exactly. If I buy another V7, I'll keep it for awhile. And some Agostinis! Yes, Agostinis!
-
Got my first dealer callback.
Salesman said the $2,000 rebate required dealer participation in a program to take more old stock, and they wouldn't be doing that.
So, the rebates and discounts available on the 2014 V7 Special at his dealership amounted to $1250. And they'd be adding freight and prep, so OTD was $8869.
Bottom-Feeder that I am, it just isn't enough incentive for me jump at that price on a two year old motorcycle...
:undecided:
-
Second dealer emailed.
No 2014s in stock, but priced a 2015 V7 Special at $8290. No mention of freight and prep, but expect they would also ask for it.
Told them thanks, but no.
-
Michael. since I am retired and out of the goodness in my heart, I would definitely take your airline ticket and do and fly and ride and deliver the V7 to you. Heck, I won't charge mileage or the motel on the way back.

I haven't. We've never ordered any in (for ourselves or customers). But every set of Agos we've ordered, for any bike, have always sounded like heaven. I ride with a set daily.

I did the same, lol
I told him to either find time to ride it, or prepare for a bath
-
I stopped by TO Guzzi today and was talking to the owner about the promotion. He loves it but pointed out that any bikes that were purchased at the Guzzi auction last month in Orange County are not eligible for those factory rebates. This could also be a reason not all dealers are offering those rebates.

We've talked about this many times, why would anyone ever go in a dealership and buy a current-year, non-severely-discounted Guzzi? The bikes don't sell and, before long, the factory and the dealers must slash prices to the bone. Many Guzzi buyers learn this.
This quicksand that is characteristic of Guzzi sales is one of several things that spurn prospective new dealerships, terminate existing ones and cuts the throat of riders who are existing Guzzi owners.
Sure, in the short term, it's all great for buyers. However, in the broader, long term picture it is detrimental to the production and sales network for the brand.
Of course, as has also been said many times, "they can't continue like this and have been going out of business - since 1921."
-

Because I can afford to.
I test rode a 2014 Stelvio last Fall then bought it the next weekend. Fully prepared to pay MSRP and was pleasantly surprised when MPH dropped the price and installed accessories for free (Euro lights and heated grips).
Like we've also talked about many times, dealers need to make a fair profit to stay in business.

Yes, I agree that some people do that. When I bought my 2012 NTX, I basically paid a premium. I got a small discount but the bikes were new and dealers were having more demand than the current supply.
I fully realized that the bikes' new prices would plummet in time but I didn't wanna wait and miss the riding opportunity. I don't regret my decision.
Still, a great percent of buyers, especially knowledgeable buyers, are in the mode of waiting out the price fall. Even the ones who don't, are greeted with bikes on the showroom floor or from other dealers that are severely discounted.
I have discussed this with 2 or 3 prominent dealers who abandoned the brand for this very reason. They bikes don't sell and, when they do, they provide no profit. On top of that, they tell me, Guzzi buyers rarely subsidize their dealer with other ancillary purchases like accessories, parts or service.
Hey, I am not here to provide any advice on how to avoid this pitfall. If prices could be kept up, I am not certain that there wouldn't be even fewer of the machines on the road.

Guzzis are selling well (for Guzzi). They're finally back to pre-recession sales numbers. From my impression, there are a few 2013 and 2014 bikes still on showroom floors and PGA is offering incentives to clear them off to make room for the Audace, NELDO, and V7-II.
Any maker would do that.
There are people who like to buy current year cars and motorcycles. Those people aren't going to wait around a couple years and hope to pick up something leftover on a factory promotion. Things are different now than they were in 2007/2008/2009. Most new Guzzis are selling.
Guzzi is smart to blow out the few remaining leftovers that are sitting around. There is lots of buzz about the Cal14 Audace and NELDO, and the V7-II line. Most people will be wanting to buy the new models, leaving the few leftovers to languish.
Me? I've been waiting around to see what is shown in November and this promotion came along. If I can pick up a new two year old V7 Special with these aggressive factory discounts, I may do it for the heck of it. I like the V7s and I don't care about ABS/TC and the other incremental upgrades made to the V7-II. I haven't been actively shopping new ones, so if I pick up a leftover, it's good for Guzzi. They will not have lost a sale on a new V7-II, but gained a sale on a leftover V7.
-
I have discussed this with 2 or 3 prominent dealers who abandoned the brand for this very reason. They bikes don't sell and, when they do, they provide no profit.
They'd sell if their customers didn't have shitty attitudes about buying like you're describing. How the hell is a dealer supposed to stay in business if all their customers wait around until the bikes go on reduction? See this kind of attitude pisses me off. Everyone bitches all the time about the lack of Guzzi dealerships nationwide...yet people suggest people are dumb for buying new models? Those people are exactly the type of customers I wouldn't want...those are the people slowly killing the brand.
And for what it's worth, Guzzi is currently selling better than any other brand in our shop. The profit margins are slim, but they're slim on ANY bike. We don't make money on bike sales, we make money on building a strong customer base with people who want to continue to do business with us, who service their bikes with us, and who come back around the next time they're looking for a new ride or recommend us to their friends.
-

Those dealers failed because they did not develop a customer base for their product.
Just saying "They didn't sell, so we had to drop the brand" is a cop out.
They knew going in that the brand was a low-volume niche product.
It's on the salesmen to find customers to sell to. To find customers who will buy their product.
There are few products that sell themselves, but for some reason many motorcycle salesmen get frustrated when "nobody will buy my product". They need to be out there trying to sell their product, rather than waiting around wishing and hoping.
-
The dealers that thrive do seem to cut out a nitch of their own. RFC in Woodstock, doesn't deal with bottom feeders. If you want a bike for less than it cost him, don't bother calling. I have heard JB on the phone with a perspective new customer, and heard him tell the perspective to first go to his local dealer, give them a chance, I really respect that.
If that customer is then unable to get reasonable service, yes he will be happy to work with them, once again, assuming they are not bottom feeders. Bottom line at his type of dealer, if you want a new bike from RFC, be prepared to pay a fair, honest price, and with that purchase comes all the benefits of being a friend of the farm.
The type of experience at RFC is not for everyone, and that's fine. So folks want the absolute rock bottom price, and that's all they want, and there are dealers out their who serve that nitch too.
My point is that different dealers can come up with various strategies to serve the market. To a large extent the dealers that come and go with the wind, don't understand the market, and often don't understand how to run a retail business.
-
We don't make money on bike sales, we make money on building a strong customer base with people who want to continue to do business with us....
Reads like "we lose money on every sale, but we make it up on volume".
-
Reads like "we lose money on every sale, but we make it up on volume".
Written like "the margins are so small on motorcycles and scooters that the amount of money made on new bike sales is not how we stay in business".

So what's the consensus on the silver/grey color on the V7 Specials ??

I'd say that's a classy looking ride. One I wouldn't mind seeing in my garage.
-
Looks good. But I have to say, I have yet to see a stock v7 or v7II that I didn't like. The silver/black combo does come across well, it flows naturally, organically, as the kids like to say!
-
Road Trip tomorrow to RPM in Farmers Branch Texas.
If all goes as planned, a silver/grey 2014 V7 Special will be coming home with me. :bike-037:
I'll post some pix when I can.

That's a beauty, Rocker!
I'm glad the 2014s are getting snatched up.
I wanted an Eldo so prior year wasn't an option. My money, my choice.
That said, I have bought new "last year" Guzzis before and been very happy, too!

I like the NELDO a lot, but right now I need a bike I can carry on my Versa-Hauler. A 400-lbs bike is perfect for that.
We're going to see some great things from Guzzi over the next couple years.
For now, the little V7 Special will fill the bill as the first step in rebuilding my Guzzi stable.

Well, $3000 in customer cash on the 2014 V7 Special was too much to resist.
I drove down to Farmers Branch (Dallas) Texas today and picked one up from the good folks at RPM Cycle.
Euro Salesman Wade Campbell was great to work with and the customer cash from PGA made the transaction a win-win for everyone.
General Manager Boris Loera and F&I Manager Bill Mendelson were also great guys.

This makes my seventh Guzzi, but only my second new purchase Guzzi. I really enjoyed the 2010 V7C I had back during 2012. First impressions are that the updated heads and efi is nice. Steel tank is great. Otherwise, very much like my 2010.

No smoke. No mirrors.
I'm sure I could've beat them up for a few hundred more dollars, but we want to support the good dealers, right?
They got thier mark up, and I got my Customer Cash. Win-Win.
Round numbers?: MSRP + freight + prep + Doc - $3000 = $7000 out the door.
TTL will be handled by me at my local revenue office.

That's a sharp looker there. I like that color and those spoke wheels.
Out the door for $7000 is amazing.
By the way, I love my Versa Haul too.

Just a heads-up. My friend and I got new V7 2015 bike s this past spring. Both have the half plastic/half metal fuel filters in the tank and both need replacing due to E-10. The plastic gets soft and distorts and then separates from the metal half and then, no go!
Better check your bike.

The "Summer Special" $1000 expires 8/31. The "Summer Clearance Event" $2000 for 2014 and prior machines expires 10/31.
Something tells me V7 Specials will go quickly with the two promotions stacked like that. $3000 of a $9200 bike is a lot !!!

For US models, the only difference is the wet alternator on the '14 models. It puts out 270 W as opposed to the dry alternator on the '13 models, which puts out 350 W. Go figure.

No fun. When I left the dealer after my first service on my Norge it was 104. I soaked a long sleeve sweatshirt and then put a denim work shirt over it. I was completely dry and hot less then 20 minutes later. Not fun.

R59 - Lovely machine! After riding and enjoying a slightly heavier bike (W650) with approx. the same hp (50 at the crank), and still riding an R100GS rated at 58hp, the V7's 50hp should be about right!
I have to take a demo ride on one of the small blocks. I have ridden a 2005 Breva 750 for a few miles, but think the riding experience would be different on a 'sit on' vs a 'sit in' bike. Only speculation on my part.

I used to own a 2007 Breva 750 and now own a 2010 V7 Classic. I really like both bikes but there IS a big difference in the seating position; As you pointed out, your sit "in the Breva 750" but you will sit "on" the V7 Classic and newer models of the V7. I like both riding positions so I have no preference between the two for these bikes.

It has been mentioned here but since it qualifies for such a super deal I though I would mention it again. These deals required dealers meet certain buy in qualifiers.
2014 California Models $3500.00 dollars off (we have one Touring available)
2014 V7 Special $3000.00 off. (We have three available.)
Sorry for the spam if this offends anyone but these are great deals and other dealers have bought into the promo guidelines.

There is at least one other thread about this subject (e.g., http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=78092.0) , so you might consider consolidating the two.
In the meantime, who are "we?"

"We are Europa Macchina in Lewisberry PA. What I listed are STACKED discounts hat are running until the end of the month. Like I said there are other dealers that qualify and at present Guzzi only has the Summer Clearance up on the Moto Guzzi USA website. Anytime you can get 30% off a new bike I think it is pretty special.

Congrats on the new special. Very sharp looking. What bike rack you using? Is that the versa-haul? Can't quite make it out?
Yeah. Versa-Haul. I got it in 2003 and have hauled bikes all over the country with it, and the Suburban.

Congrats Mike, I have the same bike. Make sure it has the latest EFI map #352BV738. I just had mine updated and it really smooths out the fueling off idle and eliminates the pesky cold start stalling common in '13-'14's.

Off topic a bit here, but does anyone know if the 2015 standard Stones (non-abs ones sent over early) have that map already installed?

Everybody is talking about 3000 off the price of a v7 but 3500 off the price of a California is a fantastic deal too! Ditto for the other bikes!

Yeah. I was real close to pulling the trigger on a '14 Cal14 Custom instead of the V7S.
Tough call, as I like them both, and the prices are great.

Can't remember if I posted this: check your fuel filter.
My 15 Stone and my buds 15 Stone both purchased at the end of last winter and delivered this April had the half plastic filter which is slowly being wrecked by ethanol fuel-despite stabilizers added on a regular basis. The plastic is getting bloated and will, I'm told, separate from the metal half of the filter rendering the bike immobile. Gerry changed his last week and I'll do mine next Wed. Gerry's was spongy and bloated as well as discolored.

Ok, because we are getting a LOT of calls and emails about this promo:
Yes The deal is on ALL Dated inventory.
No, not all dealers are participating.
Yes, It is ridiculous, these bikes are WAY below cost and Moto Guzzi is rebating dealers who are agreeing to take a huge hit in their margin to get old inventory off their floor. Dealers are matching a big portion of these discounts. This is all about getting inventory OFF OUR FLOORS.
Yes - You can get a Cali 1400 (non-current) for up to $3500 off.
No - It doesn't work on Eldorado's or Audace's, V7 Mark 2's Or anything fresh.
Yes - There is a time limit on the "double stacking" part of this promotion. The Additional $1000 off on 2014 v7 Specials, and Additiona $1500 off on 2014 Cali's expires on 8/31. After 8/31 your best deal will be the Sumner Clearance Event pricing advertised here:
http://www.motoguzzi-us.com/special-offers/summer-clearance-event.html
Our dealership still has a couple specials that qualify for the $3000 off - So GET THEM NOW!!!
That's right...$6290 +fees for a 2013 or 2014 V7 Special. We have 3 in stock at this price.
We're also doing $2000 off on V7 Racers, $3000 off on the Norge, and More than $3500 off on a number of Cali 1400 demo units we have in stock (full warranty).

I just wanted to thank everyone for all the information in this post. I've been looking for a V7 Special for a while and when I found out these summer clearance rebates could be stacked on certain bikes I knew I couldn't pass up that deal. Three grand off a nine grand bike? Amazing.
I had my heart set on a black and orange but they seem to be tough to find now in the 2014's. I called up Walt first but he was already selling his black & orange. So then I gave RPM Cycle a try based on Michael's recommendation. Wade at RPM was a great guy to work with and after a little "Wild Guzzi name dropping" I was able to get the same deal as Michael. $7k out the door.
So now comes the hard part, waiting for the bike to be shipped from TX to CA.
...and of course 2 seconds after finalizing the purchase I ordered a pair of Agostinis.

Now our friend MariusD will have to find another bike. He was thinking of picking the black/orange bike up from RPM !!!

Which is why I'm going to have to sell my perfectly fine 2014 California 1400 for $8000 by the time the dust clears. Oh well...

is your Cal 14 for sale now? do you have to sell now?
I really don't think there are enough unsold 2014 Cal 14s available at the $3500 discount to affect the used market for very long.
Over the next month, or two? Yes. You'd take a hit.
Once the limited supply of leftover 2014s is sold, the used market will not be feeling that downward pressure.
This is different from 2008.
