I was admiring a Victory Vegas and it occurred to me that I might feel a little goofy if I actually moved to Vegas and got that bike. Like I was a super Vegas booster or something. On the other hand, I'd have no problem riding a California in California. It just seems different to me to have a biked named after a broad area as opposed to a specific one. That said, it's never been an issue -- there's not a lot of bikes named "Baltimore." For good reason.
What about you? If you lived in Daytona would you be less likely to buy a biked named that? What if someone named a bike after your current area, like "Shenandoah" or "Philly" or whatever?

I'm waiting for the new mini-Stelvio DS bike.... The Guzzi "Blueridge"
-
When the Guzzi Escondido hits the market I'll look into financing. I have no use for Vegas, other than a nephew of mine lives there.
-
The Moto Guzzi "Spout Spring"?
The oil-leaking jokes would never stop, so I don't think so ....

The (insert manufacturer's name here) Altoona might reach the sales numbers of the Ducati Indiana.

Hey! Don't sully the name of Indiana by putting Ducati with it..

I guess I'll start shopping for a Henderson. How hard could it be to find a good deal on a one in nice shape?
-
Hmmm, there is a town in northern MN named Climax. A "Moto Guzzi Climax", who knows it might be an all time best seller!

Don't worry - I sold the dang things here in Las Vegas, and nobody paid the slightest attention. To be honest, it's not an incredibly distinctive bike in recent years, the fancy models have all gone away.
Now thinking back to my previous homes, I can't say I ever would have been thrilled by (for example) a Winnipeg... :boozing:
-
The Oark, Ar. model would have to have automatic banjo detection equipment standard. "you sure got some purdy lips there boy"
-
The "Blue Ball", Victory
The redesigned water cooled rubber mount "Intercourse"
The CanAm "Bird in Hand"
-
HD has the 48 , MG could name a model "Forty one" in honor of a small OK town .

When I had my T3 repainted, I "created" a new model -- named after the location of my family's Italian home. My bike is now a "Cilento."
Check the side cover.
Best,

Couldn't care less as long as I didn't live someplace like Big Bone Lick, Kan-tuck-ee.
More to the OP point - I'd be more concerned about living in the place that the Victory "Vegas" is named after than riding a cycle of coincidental monikers.
Todd.
-
Moto Guzzi has already had a bike named after a town in Missouri, of coarse like most places in MO. it's pronounced differently here than elsewhere, It's NevAda with a long A in the middle.
As for my hometown the MG Independence would be alright, sounds like a better name than Stone,

Las Vegas revised mottoes:
- "Disneyland for trailer trash"
- "All entertainment - no culture"
- "There's no mob here anym... Hey, you talkin' tuh me?"
- "What happens in Vegas - stays on YouTube"
- "Vegas is for families - the Genovese, the Gambinos, the Giancannos..."

Named my driveway "gas the Guzzi", don't care what the city is named. :boozing:

That's a beautiful Guzzi. I don't mean to bearer of bad news, but the painter misspelled Cliento.

Option II:
You own the motorcycle and are professionally sentenced to live in Vegas... Change the bike's model name. Some options:
The Victory Pintos.
The Victory Sodom... or, Gomorrah if one prefers.
Victor Y Victoria?
Todd.

There's an old joke about how you would never, ever find a car with a place name, in that place. And you know? They're right:
Monte Carlo, Torino, Milano, Firenze, Corsica, Monaco, Versailles, LeMans, Biarritz... All crappy American cars from the 1970s and 80s!
Of course, North American place names may be an exception (Tucson, Santa Fe, Denali come to mind).
-
Change Stone to Boulder and I'm there.
-
I'm partial to the Moto Guzzi Ingomar...
Spud

Come to think of it, my bicycle is a Litespeed Firenze. I had forgotten about that.

Denali, Yukon, Tundra, Chickaloon -- all good regional monikers, if you go for that sort of thing. Beats the heck out of made-up mad-lib names. But I'm of the opinion that you can't see the name plate or the color from the driver's seat, so if I like the features, the name doesn't really matter.
... Unless it's got "Trump" in the name. Then I would expect it would be loud, obnoxiously polluting, smell like uncorked sh*t and have really poor mileage, while being limited to only extreme right turns. Plus, it would be so full of its own self that there wouldn't be room for passengers. Yeah, I'd pass on a Trumpmobile.

Thanks, TJ. The only misspelling is due to my fat-fingered typing skills (or lack thereof)

Yep, seen plenty of Tucsons in Tucson and many Santa Fe's in Santa Fe. Even had my Tundra above the timber line. My Dodge Ram has yet to ram anything but I did see a ram while driving through the country while driving the Ram :D
And the Element seems to be full of elements.
I'd rather everything just have numbers. Dodge 2500. Name of folks who founded the company and a number related (somewhat) to the load rating of the truck.

I have no problem buying Milwaukee brand tools (it's where I'm from). A Moto Guzzi "Milwaukee" just sounds weird.

I was talking with my brother about this and other threads and he commented upon my fixation on Buick Rivieras in connection then we went into a direction of what we wouldn't own by name only and I said it was unlikely that I'd pass on anything for so trivial a reason.
Then, he reminded me of my reaction when he bought his daughter a Kia.
Nope, Can't be owning a K.I.A. No way, no how.
Todd.

The Moto Guzzi 'Wagga Wagga' don't quite roll off the tongue. Too bad if you lived in Lick Hole Creek. Yes, that's a real place.

Numbers are good... It's interesting that many Asian owned car companies give American model names to their vehicles.Obviously to cozy up to US buyers. Probably a Japanese vehicle named the Bataan wouldn't be a best seller.

After attending JN Smith's funeral in SE OK, I would rename my Norge "Roughrider". Most of those Okie road surfaces suck.

I suppose it meant to appeal to younger buyers....Like the Nissan Juke....

If I lived in Intercourse, PA, it would probably be the deciding factor for NOT buying that particular model.

Maybe I'm alone here, but living in California, I think the Moto Guzzi California sounds sort of lame or awkward. If I were to get a cruiser, I'd consider it, but I'd probably strip the labels off it.
Now if I lived in Shafter, CA - I'd be willing to ride around on a Moto Guzzi Shafter.

There was a car ad , swear I saw it once , that went like this .
Mom , girl of about 5 years age , and a toddler in a car seat in the back seat . 5 year old asks mom ,
"where did you get our names from mom?" "You were named after where you were conceived, why do you ask Dallas?" As the camera pans around to the toddler in the back seat , the 5 year old asks ,
"Well , I was just wondering where you came up with Electra ?" Brilliantly funny , probably banned  Now , it may have been Concorde and some Chrysler car name , but you get the gist

Moto Guzzi Houston- Ugly as sin, leaks oil, and runs EXTREMELY hot.
Moto Guzzi Dallas - Beautiful plastic on the outside but ridiculously underpowered.
