My first car was a 71 Spyder. Loved that little thing, but, the floor pans were starting to rust out, 2nd gear synchro was almost shot and the convertible top leaked right at my shoulder. Probably a good thing I got rid of it when I did :)

I restored one similar to this....

Absolute sex on four wheels! Sure there are even more sexy Italians, but who can afford a Lambo?
And speaking of sex, it has an auto Tranny, oh oh the the joy of not having to grab the stick to get it to launch!

That's the "Quadrifoglio" package with the phone dial wheels and the optional removable hard top. Pretty nice specimen and the last generation with the body colored bumpers.
Came close to buying a boatail ('67) Spider Duetto once. Very low miles and heart surgeon babied/owned. Probably used it to drive his mistress to tennis on sundays. I was a 20 year old and didn't have the cash, offered 5500 and he said no. It was all of 7,000 dollars. Probably for the best, the car was too nice and I was too young.
Made all the right sounds from the Webers to the exhaust. I love those cars but prefer the early versions and I can't afford them now. The car pictured is beautiful though.

No what I've been thinking of is restomodding a '74 -- 2 L engine, kamm tail, fuel injection, No California Smog Tests.

I had a '79 for 6 years and put over 100,000 miles on it. I took off the heavy, black 5 mph bumpers and put on some nice light fiberglass pseudo's from Shankle Engineering. Lord I loved that car. It wasn't fast but it had a great gearbox and suspension. Once you learned to shift the weight forward on a turn and set the suspension the car would corner on rails. 70 series tires and the "big pasta lunch" suspension were really nice over rough roads. I used to strap my oldest in a baby-seat sideways behind the seats.
Once I understood the maintenance schedule it was a great car.
Now the '84 (top of the line Toyota) Supra I bought new a little later was really a piece of junk compared to the Alfa. the Supra needed new cams @ 35,000 and dropped a valve @ 115,000
