Here is a bike shop that builds interesting Guzzis.
The V12 looks nice. Griso engine, tonti frame.

there is a thread about this... no idea how you might find it by search, as radguzzi I don't think were mentioned... but there were a couple videos and more info on the Tonti 1200 8v posted in that thread...

Yes posted before... and yes, a BB version of the SB Stone. I like the look a lot. Sounds great too. Cut the music and let us hear the bike in full glory. I can listen to music any time. God I hate that.

The one with the old 5 speed box that the engine will grind into shavings, and the bevel drive that will twist like wet spaghetti?
Oh, and not forgetting the carbs with no filters. Terrific bike that. :rolleyes:

Definitely posted before,( but they are so nice it dont hurt to do it twice). For those who may not remember, RadicalGuzzi is the current incarnation of Guzziladen. Believe he took over some of the special bits originally produced by Moto Spezial when that owner passed away ( RIP). He always created hot rod Guzzis. Love his stuff or hate it, he is very creative and Guzzi specific... More Guzzis , specials or not is always a good thing in my book

One day someone is going to build a 120HP 8V and stick it in something like this with a five speed and Tonti BB behind it. After they've ripped the centres out of a few clutch plates the'll go to solid centres. After that it will be a toss up as to what bursts first, the five speed or the bevelbox. My guess will be the end thrust will either push a bearing out of the endcase or it will simply bust the endcase off completely. If it doesn't to that it'll just burst the BB. Neither component is designed to take that much power or torque.
One of the reasons the Nuovo Six Speed uses straight cut gears is to eliminate end thrust. If you look at the size of the crownwheel and pinion teeth in the CARC you will likewise find that the teeth are two or three times larger than those in an 8/33 gearset. There's a reason for that.....

Yep, but this ain't 120 hp. is my point. Possibly they know this stuff?? "If" is conjecture and a hypothetical and I'll leave it at that. I'd rather talk about the reality of this build.

By all means if you like the idea of wasting an 8V in a Tonti frame say so but please don't try and pretend it is either sensible or good engineering.

At $20,000E, that works out to just over $22K greenbacks.
That would buy you a Griso and $9,000 change or else an even trade for some flavor of Panigale.
...for inferior handling and questionable engineering.

Does that really say Magni schwing? Maybe that's why it costs so much.

Yes I'm sure a motor that produces 110hp will certainly shred a frame and drivetrain built & sold around a 80hp motor like paper mache! I can't believe it even survived the test ride without disintegrating into a heap of metal shavings!

The Tonti frame was designed to handle just over 50hp. 100 taxes it severely. The clutch, gearbox and final drive really don't like anything over low seventies which is what an FI Cali 11 makes.
Keep pretending if it makes you happy.

I came up with 80hp by googling the claimed HP of the tonti 1000 LeMans. No idea if that is accurate... but the manufacturer didn't seem cowed by putting a motor almost 2x as powerful as a V7 Sport into a tonti frame.
According to the builder, they spent two years working out how to modify the frame and drivetrain to accommodate the 8v engine... Since then, they have put a couple more years into developing this concept.
The 8v one looks like a standard tonti swing arm, but without seeing it and fully knowing what mods were made, it seems a little silly to dismiss it offhand...

Now this is a different bike, the new version of the bike in question.. This one uses the Cali14 motor and you can see that there have been extensive mods to stiffen the chassis

To me this demonstates that the builder has at least thought about and addresses the very issues that some of you have about this bike. Whether these mods are sufficient or successful remains to be seen... But it's apparent they have been studying and working on the issue for at least 4 years at this point... So it is disingenuous to slag off their work and pretend that they've just shoehorned a powerful engine in to a stock chassis and the results are guaranteed to be disastrous. :weiner:

TWO YEARS "figuring it out" ?! Spare me. What, is this a fighter plane? Call me cynical, but the design doesn't quite look like thousands of hours of R&D went in there.

The floating bevel box is nothing new, it's a direct crib from the Harris brothers design of three decades ago. Nothing about it looks particularly 'Special' apart from the fact it uses an obsolete driveline which, just call me an old cynic, I think is bizarre!
If someone wants a 'Cafe' 1400 surely it would be cheaper and easier to take the fork shrouds off a Cali and add a 'Classically Themed' tank and bodywork rather than trying to cram the donk into something not designed for it? And as for putting carburetors on it? God give me strength!

Things are not always as they seem is a hard proposition for some to accept. There's not one person here that can say for certain what engineering has or hasn't been done to their bikes.

None of these people were dopey enough to use the Tonti frame, they made their own.
