I brought my V7 II for the first service at ~930km to the dealer. The bike has been running rough sometimes, the left cylinder (from a rider's view) being noticeably colder during rides. The other day I got it after oil change and valve check - it would start even rougher and with a ticking sound.
After temporary disconnecting the ABS, checking for induced sound on the speaker or any loose part a senior mechanic chimed in saying this is a coil. Correct guess, as the lead was disconnected with both the coil and the lead heavily corroded. It seems like the coil was throwing sparks around.
Took a picture to send to Guzzi for warranty, cleaned the contacts using a spray and a toothbrush and held the lead in place with cable ties so that I can ride it until the new ones arrive. Hell, it pulls much better now.
So the question is :D - which coil from the parts list is that ? I see two numbers 641901 for HT coil and 642034 for HT coil DX. It seems like a shared part with Piaggio so I can probably source one before the Guzzi delivery arrives.
Thanks!

There is a recall on the plug caps and HT leads. If your dealer checks the service portal the details are all there.

Thanks Pete. They appear somewhat lost in the marque, having just started selling them (mine is either the first or second sold at all). Don't have an axone yet as well I think.
Can you give me a bit more details on the recall - it is just the leads ? The coil's contact was also corroded and the pin that was supposed to keep the lead plugged in was broken in two.

I've been te that none of the ones sold so far in Oz are affected and the new shipment has been quarantined in the warehouse until it's fixed.
I'll have a look at the recall notice when I get home, (it's friday night, Jude and I are at the pub!) and tell you what it sez.
BTW Axone is two generations obsolete. They shod have PADS.

642034 is the number for the RIGHT coil (DX is abbreviation for destra, Italian for right; if the left coil were indicated, it would be SX, for sinistra).
Etymology lesson: the English words dextrous and sinister derive from latin words for right and left.

Thanks sib, this makes sense now. Makes me wonder why do they have different coils though, considering same ecu, sparks, etc and that Piaggio is trying to cut down costs by sharing parts with its other vehicles.
Pete, did you got a chance to see the recall notice?
Ride safe mates.

You have a PM.

Pete, there doesn't seem to be recall for my VIN though.
I had the ht lead redone with a new lead - only to start misfiring again after 2000km. Checked it out and it already has some corrosion on it.
What should I do now (besides filing a complain with both the dealer and MG, already done) - replace the left coil. lead, cable, plug and spark altogether ?
Thanks,
Stan
