Title: Problems with Vietnam made Parts Unlimited batteries?
Post by: GearheadGrrrl on August 25, 2015, 10:15:30 AM
Bought their 2113-0020 battery for the Quota, started it a couple times and then it died. A week later it won't start the bike even after charging, voltage drops below 12 volts as soon as I turn the key on and below 10 volts when the starter button is pushed. Disconnected all my accessories and still no start, put the old battery in and starts. Wonder if I should exchange the battery for another one? Or are these 3rd world batteries all crap and maybe I should put a car sized deep cycle/starting battery in the 'hack and be done with cycle batteries for good?

Spend some money on an Odyssey battery.  Or, at least a nice Yuasa.

I don't think there's an Odyssey that fits, Yuasa lists an american made one but it's hard to find. The Quota and a lot of other contemporary Guzzis and BRP ATVs and such are the only users of this size battery.

PC545 is what I used in my V11 LeMans.

Odyssey doesn't list an application for the Quota, but that and the PC370 look close.

And besides, you can mount any Odyssey battery any which way you want, even upside down.  Jurgen

Well, obviously that parts unlimited battery is toast. Isn't there any warranty?? Dead right out of the box is not unheard of with batteries. Tell the nice man to give you another one.

Odyssey PC545 fits in my Quota although it's smaller than stock.  Had it in my Norton for 4 years and so far 4 years in my Guzzi.  Well worth the money.

I have had very good luck with those Parts  Unlimited brand batteries, but you do occasionally get a bad battery no matter which brĂ nd. Parts Unlimited offers a one year warranty on those. Take it back where you bought it. I am sure they will give you a new one. Parts Unlimited is good about honoring their warranty on those.
