So, I recently picked up a 2014 Stelvio. It is the orange color...forgive me, I don't know the correct color name yet. Anyway, when it was shipped to me, it leaned over, brake fluid leaked out of the left side reservoir and dripped onto the tank. Now I have a small (maybe 1/4 the size of a dime) spot on my tank that is missing paint. The shipper's insurance is paying for a repaint...
So the question is...keep it the stock color or change it? My favorite Guzzi color of all time is the green from the early 2000 era V11 Sport. Of course, I would also need to paint the front fender, but if I'm ever going to do it...now is the time.
What do you guys think of a Stelvio in that green?

Yes, it was meant to be.

Yea, I like the orange too, but it would be pretty cool to have one that is different...

If you like green, who cares what anyone else thinks? They aren't going to ride it or live with it. Perfect opportunity to have your bike look like you want it to, no matter what the color.
Don't forget to post pictures after the repaint so we can vote it up or down.

I think you should paint the bike in 1998 EV "Hot Dog and Mustard" colors.
One thing for sure, you'd never see another. And (just like the originals) it would become a much-desired collector's item.
Go for it!

Yea, I appreciate all the feedback. I'll be talking to the dealer soon. I'll post pics when she's done!

AWESOME IDEA, still I favor the (lime?) green..
-
I see you've found your way to the forum, glad the shipper stepped up cause when she left my hands it's was perfect. By the way I just traded for a 2014 Stelvio in Green with 817 miles, it just doesn't have the loads of goodies your's came with.
You guys should see his Griso with Enduro tires, pretty neat looking. He's also a stand up guy to deal with.

Thanks Craig,
Insurance adjuster looked at it yesterday...$838 in repairs. Fortunately it's all minor cosmetic stuff. Like you said, at least the guy is doing the right thing and taking responsibility.
Just waiting for final insurance approval, then taking it to local Guzzi dealer for repairs.

$838 is a lot of hotel rooms and gas. Put the $$$$ in your pocket and then put a (your choice: Agip, STP, NRA, Greenpeace, Koni, Magnetti Marelli, Thrush) sticker on the tank where the paint is messed up.
-
Keep it stock and have the shipper pay you $ instead of a repaint. It's supposed to look like it's been offroad anyway.

1/4 size of a dime? Pocket the money and ride the bike.
It's only original once.
-
Your pretty green tank will someday get a stone chip, and then you'll be back to where you are now. Pocket the cash and enjoy the bike as it is.
-
Dangit you guys! Now you have me all kinds of confused! LOL

Yup.

Brilliant.
Seriously, do what calls you.
But do let us know ... and see.

If you go for a repaint- make sure that it is a stock color from one of the big player paint manufacturers, that way there will be no problem touching it up. I go to my local body shop supply house all the time. Great guys and pro grade advice.
That being said, I liked the green metallic on the Griso SE. The dark green on the new Stelvios is pretty righteous also. Come to think of it, that metallic orange is really handsome.
-
I *like* the orange. That's why they make stickers and stuff..
